America’s Bolshevik
Obama denies being an ideologue or a Bolshevik, why? Is he
ashamed of his heritage and convictions, just intent on keeping his
motivations covert until the right time to spring his true nature upon
us, or is there a technicality that we need to grasp?
Perhaps we
should analyze the term Bolshevik. Historically, the Bolsheviks
were a faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labour Party
(RSDLP), founded by Vladimir Lenin. They split from the Menshevik
faction in 1903, during the Second Party Congress. They eventually
gained control during the October phase of the Revolution in 1917.
Bolshevik means "majority" or "large" and the nickname resulted from
having the majority rule in a crucial vote. Later on after gaining
complete control, Lenin maintained that since there was no opposition,
there was no longer the need to call themselves the majority party or
Bolsheviks, thus they named themselves the Communist Party of the Soviet
Union.
Eventually, Lenin died and Stalin gained control of the
party. Trotsky was exiled and wrote extensively condemning
Stalin’s "incorrect" version of Communism by referring to it as
Bolshevism, a derivative of Bolshevik, in apposition to Leninism.
Consequently the term Bolshevik developed negative connotations for the
"pure" Communist; perhaps this explains Obama’s displeasure at being
called a Bolshevik. He like many others must feel the sting of
those who are critical of Stalin’s regime.
The term, Ideologue,
evolved in the highly contested political and philosophical debates of
the French Revolution; coined by Destutt de Tracy, initially, it
referred to the study of the science of ideas or the study of ideas and
the means and logic of those ideas.
Later, Napoleon used the
term as a pejorative toward his political opponents, since that time it
has been used as a term of derision in political discussion to point out
an opposing politician’s inability to grasp ideas that are different
than those of his party line, thus reflecting a pettiness and lack of
cognitive ability.
Obama's taking exception to being considered
an Ideologue becomes a matter of conjecture when examining the platform
of America’s Communist Party. Although Obama denies any
association with the Communist Party of the United States, (CPUSA) they
are in express agreement with all of his policies. They could not have
had a better representative if they had won the election.
The
CPUSA’s stated goals are to achieve a free, prosperous, and peaceful
society free of racism, sexism, homophobia, and exploitation, in which
all people have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. These same goals were espoused by Obama during his campaign, the same
goals of the Social Democrats and of the Progressive Democrats. The
Communists above all maintain that they advocate a peaceful Socialist
Revolution and a peaceful transition to Socialism. Obviously if they
didn’t, the Communist Party would be outlawed; therefore the claim is
probably one of expediency and is purely academic.
All things
considered, I understand why a true Marxist in the Russian tradition
balks at being labeled a Bolshevik. It is an insult from the days of
Trotsky’s bitter writing over his ouster and banishment. Being upset at
being labeled an Ideologue is a matter of history. In the context of the
early days of the French Revolution, Obama should consider it
a compliment to be called an ideologue. If his frame of reference is
from the Napoleonic perspective, he is indeed an Ideologue, after all
Karl Marx frequently implied that it was essential to be an Ideologue. Obviously Obama is confused over these issues as he seems to
be over many issues. It would probably be a much easier if he
would just be honest with the American People and admit that he is a
Communist Ideologue, with his reelection chances diminishing daily, he
has reached the point where honesty can only improve his ratings. Of
course if he had been honest in the beginning, he would have never been
elected.
There can be little argument
that the agendas of Obama, the Democrat Party, and the CPUSA are
strikingly similar -- cursor down on the Flopping Aces link to review a condensed
version of the CPUSA platform.

A Peer Review
I received the following
over the transom from an attorney who was an associate and peer of
Michelle Robinson (Obama) at the law firm of Sidley Austin, LLP.
Michele's office was on my floor at the firm and I would walk by
it everyday. She was rarely in the office, had very limited
work papers in her office, yet apparently was drawing an
associate salary while not practicing law, and billing huge
hours as is ordinary for an associate. My fellow associates and
I worked to 10 p.m. customarily and many times to 2 to 3 a.m.,
every weekend, meeting the crushing work loads. But Michele
never had to do that, which understandably caused a lot of
resentment amongst fellow associates. I have no first hand
knowledge since it would be a private and confidential
arrangement, but the associate scuttlebutt drawn from partner
"leaks" was that she was drawing a firm salary while working
full time for City Hall doing political fund raising and
"special projects" work for the Daley Machine. The word
was that this arrangement benefited the firm because many times
their real estate clients had city zoning and other legal issues
that required city approvals or resolution, so the firm needed
to be viewed as on the city hall team and accede to their
wishes. So from the very start of her career my opinion is
that Michelle was the beneficiary of the nefarious city hall
back scratching schemes. As demonstrated by The Obama File, she
seems to have benefitted from these "arrangements"
her entire professional career. I have my doubts that she did
much at the University of Chicago to justify such an
enormous
salary and have never heard tell of any significant
projects she was handling,
let alone any accomplishments or major successes in the
healthcare field.
Michele at one point did leave officially to work for the
Daley Administration, but was already well engaged in
political activities during the day and regularly absent
from the firm for a lengthy period of time before she left.
I can't recall the precise timelines but I would estimate
that she was listed as an associate at the firm but not
carrying a regular work load for well over one year, maybe
even two years before she "left" for the City Hall payroll.
On a personal note, Michele was simply the most arrogant
young person I have ever met in my life. She simply would
not engage with her fellow associates and apparently viewed
herself as superior to them. I personally observed that
she would only engage with partners, most notably senior
partners. Never a friendly smile or good morning for staff
or fellow associates as she walked past them day after day after
day. I remember one particular instance where a group of
associates and I were chatting at a firm cocktail party and I
noted how no one seemed to know Michele but were constantly
gossiping about her. The gang just commented about how arrogant
and unfriendly she was and never around. I commented that
maybe she was just uncomfortable as a Southside girl being
around all of these elitist, snobby white folks at a silk
stocking firm. So I walked over to her when she was getting
hors d'oeuvres and introduced myself as a friendly overture.
She gave me a dirty look, literally threw her head back and
turned her back on me and walked back over the a group of senior
partners gathered around

Martin! As if you say how dare you approach me you filthy
little underling. I went back to my group of associates
friends feeling embarrassed and they just chuckled and said
"told ya'." So, Michele was not the sweet or kind person the
media would like us to believe. She was an elitist and only was
interested in those who could advance her personal interest, not
ordinary folks. To this day, that episode was the rudest I
have ever been treated by anyone, and there are lot of rude
lawyers out there.
I never met Barack, but only heard
about him second hand. My fellow associates who were summer
interns with him (in '89 I think) described him as very tall,
handsome, thin, and amiable but pretty aloof. They
commented of his love of basketball and that he was always up
for a game and that basketball and politics is all that grabbed
his interest at the time. They stated that he did not seem
to be interested in practicing law at a big firm and doing the
hard and dull work that that entailed, was just drawing his big
pay check, that he did not turn work assignments in on a timely
matter, was gone frequently, and generally wanted to be a
community organizer in preparation for a political career, not
as a practicing attorney. As a result, the firm -- according to
what I was told by people that should know -- did not extend him
an offer. So as shocking as it seems, our Obama apparently did
not make the cut as a summer intern. I suspect that is buried
like all written documentation and will never see the light of
day, but I do wonder if Obama could produce an offer letter from
Sidley? According to what I was told, and this is just second
hand, he was not offered a job and was instead sent a regrets
letter. This of course is not to say that he could not have
succeeded if he wanted to. He is bright and quick, and I would
hate to try a lawsuit against him, but certainly not the
brilliant legal scholar and committed, talented practicing
attorney that he has been portrayed as by the media. He was,
and is very much a clever Southside Chicago pol, no more and no
less.
According to
Wikipedia, Obama was a summer associate with Hopkins &
Sutter in 1990, and graduated in 1991 from Harvard. So that
would suggest he was a first year summer intern at Sidley in
89', was not offered to return for a second summer, took a
summer intern job at Hopkins & Sutter, and probably did not get
an offer there either -- unless he can account for his time away
from legal practice. Hopkins paid a top tier salary, so I doubt
that he would turn that down if he was offered it.
Both were kind of odd cases at Sidley, frankly. Regardless of
their ethnicity, gender, or other background, all other young
lawyers to a person that I met were very committed to making a
career at the firm, worked very hard at their projects, worked
on honing their craft and were trying to build a reputation
within the firm for doing quality legal work and build a career.
However, both Michele and Barack came into the firm and were
treated very differently and behaved differently, more like
political hires who were just using the firm as a political
vehicle, getting a blue-chip firm stamp on their resume, and
being funded in the meantime. Same basic "arrangement" as
Bernadine Dohrn had. She did
not do legal work to my knowledge and paying her a salary was
simply a deposit in the favor bank to borrow a phrase from
Bonfire of the Vanities. Mary A. Dempsey, current head of
the Chicago Public Library and husband of super lawyer and Dem
pol Phil Corboy, was another political hire. She did not really
practice law but simply practiced Chicago politics and drew a
salary at the same time. This is what they call the "Chicago
Way." Future leaders are not chosen on merit or strength of
character but are simply groomed and coopted as appartchniks of
the political machine.
My strong sense is that both Michele and Barack Obama are mere
empty creations of the Chicago political machine who advanced
through the ranks in order to support vested political and
economic interests. Who these vested interests were or what
back room deals were made, no one will ever know. Barack's
background as a "constitutional scholar" is widely acknowledged
a being a sham by the true constitutional lawyers and scholars
in Chicago. How can you be a constitutional scholar when
you have not written a single legal brief on the subject, given
a single meaningful scholarly lecture before
experts, published a peer-reviewed scholarly articles or
treatise? There is simply no "there, there" which is why BHO is
so lost when he goes off of teleprompter and seems to be so lost
for answers and fresh ideas or even rudimentary knowledge -- he
is simply the spokesman for these hidden interests and power
brokers who espouse a radical far left ideology and delivers the
same old tired leftist adages and buzz words. My measurement of
him is that is literally the living, breathing and tragically
elected "Chauncey Gardiner of the Left." (Remember the
scene where the power brokers at the end of the film "Being
There" were talking about raising Chance the gardener to the
office of the President).
Michelle Obama has been on
court ordered inactive status with the Illinois State Attorneys bar
from 1993, after only 4 years of practicing law. Many are curious
to know what did she did, or didn't do, to acquire this status.
Three classes of U. S. citizenship are currently identified on The
Obama File's Natural Born page.
These three classes are referenced in the US Constitution, applicable
case law, and US Code:
All
three are "citizens" of the United States of America. However, if
one looks at the logical cases, there appears to be a fourth class:
1. Parentage important AND birthplace important -- a "natural
born" citizen is any person born of US citizen parents (that's two) in
the US mainland (includes Alaska and Hawaii) -- think Ronal Reagan.
2. Parentage not important AND birthplace
important -- a "native born" citizen is any person born in the US
mainland (includes Alaska and Hawaii) -- one or both of the parents may
be foreign nationals -- think Barack Obama.
3. Parentage
not important AND birthplace not
important -- a "naturalized" citizen is a citizen as the result of a
process -- think Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Given that, what is the
proper name and classification for the following case:

two) on foreign soil -- think John McCain.
My question is, what
is the proper term for the 4th case, the citizen I'm identifying as

Don't Mess With Obama
The New York Times is
reporting that a journalist who wrote an article on Monday has left
the wire service. A Reuters spokeswoman declined to say whether
the journalist, Terri Cullen, left voluntarily, or why. "I can't
really go into any detail," said the spokeswoman, Courtney Dolan.
Ms. Cullen stepped down less than a month after being hired for the
newly created position of wealth management editor. She had worked
for more than a decade for The Wall Street Journal Online.
Her
article said that Obama’s budget amounted to a backdoor tax increase for
middle-income and even lower-income people, based largely on the
scheduled expiration of income tax cuts passed in 2001, but the gang at
the White House insisted that Obama had actually proposed keeping those
cuts in place for all but high-income families.
After a complaint
from the White House, Reuters caved, and withdrew the article, stating
that it was inaccurate.
Inaccurate? Really?
The
Hill blog is running an article, "President Obama’s budget seeks an end
to tax break for the middle class," that
begins: Grappling to contain record deficits, Barack Obama is
seeking to end a middle-class tax break he once said would be permanent.
The $3.8 trillion budget request rolled out by the White House on
Monday would renew the Making Work Pay tax credit for fiscal 2011, but
then would have it sunset. That’s a switch from last year, when
Obama’s budget called for making the tax credit permanent.
Where to begin? Lets'
start here:
"Obama had actually proposed keeping those cuts in
place for all but high-income families" -- hey, gang, a proposal is only
that -- a proposal. Try taking one to the bank and cashing it.
But, far more important is the fact that, once again, Obama and his
henchmen didn't hesitate to pressure Reuters, and now Obama can add one
more to his legions of unemployed.
Free speech is a wonderful
thing -- but not in ObamaWorld.

The Constitutional Law Professor
During the presidential campaign, Obama consistently and falsely
claimed
that he was a constitutional law professor. The Sun-Times reported
that, "several direct-mail pieces issued for Obama's primary [Senate]
campaign said he was a law professor at the University of Chicago. He
was not. He was a senior lecturer at the school. In academia, there is
a vast difference between the two titles.
As a "constitutional
law instructor," Obama has been quoted as saying that the Constitution
of the United States is a flawed document.
Jim O'Neill
noticed
that in his State of the Union address, our constitutional scholar
stated that "We find unity in our incredible diversity, drawing on the
promise enshrined in our Constitution: the notion that we are all
created equal…."
There’s a problem here, however. It turns
out that "the notion that we are all created equal" is not "enshrined in
our Constitution" -- it’s from the Declaration of Independence.
This
mistaken attribution is an understandable faux pas for your average
person, but Obama’s supposed to be a Harvard-trained constitutional
lawyer. It doesn’t say much for Harvard Law School, or Obama’s
grasp of the Constitution, when he confuses the U.S. Constitution with
the Declaration of Independence.
These guys are so picky. It
was obviously an error on the part of
TOTUS.

Tres Bizarre!
"Buried in an Obama t-shirt" (01:34)
In case you didn't clearly hear Obama, he said,
"She insisted she is going to be buried in an Obama T-shirt."
Yup! He really did.
Obama told the friendly crowd that the dead woman had no health
insurance. What Obama didn't tell you is that the
woman, Melanie Shouse, a health care activist, did in fact have
insurance -- she had a catastrophic policy with a $5,000 deductible.
Four years ago, she chose not to pay for a routine exam and a
mammogram, despite feeling a lump in her breast at age 37. Shouse began feeling ill.
She
said couldn't afford a doctor because she and her partner had just used their
savings
to open a business.
"When I first noticed a small lump on my
breast, denial seemed the only option," Ms. Shouse
told the the official
newspaper of the Communist Party USA, "The People's World."
At Powerline blog, A reader
adds:
"This has really become a farce. Can you imagine even a rock star
saying something along those lines -- 'and she was buried in one of our
concert tees' -- I would only expect to see that in some scene from This
Is Spinal Tap."
And one final note: Ms. Shouse actually
requested that her body be cremated wearing her Obama T-shirt.
Obama has
some interesting friends and
supporters. Every time you turn around, up pops more
Communists.

Democrats Abandoning Obama
Kasie Hunt is
reporting that New York politicians were able to kick the Khalid
Sheikh Mohammed trial out of Manhattan, but it’s becoming increasingly
clear that not a single member of Congress wants the trial held in their
home town either.
A growing coalition of lawmakers are saying
"not in my back yard" to the terrorism trial, as even the most loyal
Democrats are moving to block funding for any civilian trials. The
pushback may represent yet another congressional rebellion against a
high profile Obama White House terrorism decision, proving that even a
persuasive Obama can’t overcome the power of local politics.
"We’re going to do everything we can to make sure they don’t point at
western Pennsylvania as a possible venue," said Rep. Jason Altmire
(D-Pa.). "We are all united, going to voice our opinion, both at
the state level and at the congressional level."
These politics
are playing out in several regions around the country, from western
Pennsylvania to northern Virginia and other potential locations for a
9/11 trial. The National Republican Congressional Committee plans
to use the issue to target Democratic representatives Bill Foster and
Debbie Halvorson in Illinois, Scott Murphy and Michael McMahon in New
York, and Kathy Dahlkemper in Pennsylvania.
Virginia Sen. Jim
Webb is leading Democrats' charge against the trials in the Senate.
Webb favors military commissions, and he says Virginia lawmakers will be
opposed to having a civilian trial in Alexandria.
Pennsylvania
Governor Ed Rendell is not opposing the trials "out of hand," his
spokesman said, but "he would want an explanation as to why it’s any
safer in western Pennsylvania than it is in New York City."
Obama is also going to face louder calls to move the trials out of the
U.S. entirely. Democratic senators had an "intense discussion"
about the administration’s Guantanamo Bay policies during a policy lunch
Tuesday, one senator said.
Eighteen senators -- including two
Democrats -- have signed on to legislation backed by Sen. Lindsey Graham
(R-S.C.) to strip funding for civilian trials for the accused 9/11
conspirators. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) will introduce a companion
bill in the House.
"I believe these individuals are war
criminals and that their alleged evils against our country warrant their
trials in military courts," said Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), who is
facing a tough reelection battle this year. "Trying these
conspirators in civilian court is giving them a public stage to advocate
their cause."
Obama knows he has a problem, but still seems
committed to finding a location for a federal trial.
"We've
tried a lot of terrorists in our courts; we have them in our federal
prisons; they've never escaped. And these folks are no different.
It's been one of those things that's been subject to a lot of, in some
cases, pretty rank politics," Obama said in an interview Monday on
YouTube.
But the longer the local fights drag out, the more
problematic the issue will be for Democrats in November.

Good News!
NewsMax.com is reporting that after insisting for a year that
failure was not an option, Barack Obama is now acknowledging his
healthcare overhaul may die in Congress.
His tone at a Democratic
National Committee fundraiser Thursday night verged at times on
defeatist. Even while saying he still wanted to get the job done,
Obama bowed to new political realities. Democrats no longer
command a filibuster-proof Senate majority, and voters and lawmakers are
far more concerned with jobs and the economy than with enacting sweeping
and expensive changes to the health system.
"I think it's very
important for us to have a methodical, open process over the next
several weeks, and then let's go ahead and make a decision," Obama said
Thursday night.
"And it may be that ... if Congress decides we're
not going to do it, even after all the facts are laid out, all the
options are clear, then the American people can make a judgment as to
whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or not," Obama
said. "And that's how democracy works. There will be
elections coming up and they'll be able to make a determination and
register their concerns one way or the other during election time."
This guy is
amazing. He's been pushing ObamaCare 24/7/365, and now that it's
going into the dumpah -- as it should -- Obama is putting the loss at
Congress' feet by saying, "the American people can make a judgment as to
whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or not."
I got a clue for Obama, the American people can also make a judgment as
to whether he has done the right thing for them or not.

Dear Mr. President,
During my tenure
on the Senate Intelligence Committee, I have worked with the Executive
Branch to stem the disclosure of sensitive information. In 2006,
for example, I introduced legislation that would aid the Executive
Branch in prosecuting individuals engaged in leaks of classified
information. In the realm of national security, sometimes it is
necessary to withhold critical information from the public that may be
used by our enemies to harm the American people.
Accordingly, I
am deeply disturbed with the official handling of vital national
security information regarding the recent cooperation by the Christmas
Day bomber Umar Farouq Abdulmutallab.
On Monday afternoon, the leadership of the Senate Intelligence Committee
received notification from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
concerning Abdulmutallab’s recent willingness to provide critical
information. FBI officials stressed the importance of not
disclosing the fact of his cooperation in order to protect on-going and
follow-on operations to neutralize additional threats to the American
public; FBI Director Bob Mueller personally stressed to me that keeping
the fact of his cooperation quiet was vital to preventing future attacks
against the United States. Handling this information in such a
sensitive manner struck me as entirely appropriate.
Twenty-four
hours later, however, White House staff assembled members of the media
to announce Abdulmutallab’s cooperation and to laud the events that led
to his decision to cooperate with law enforcement personnel. This
information immediately hit the air waves globally and, no doubt,
reached the ears of our enemies abroad.
At the Senate
Intelligence Committee’s Annual World Wide Threats Hearing Tuesday, the
Director of National Intelligence, the FBI Director, the Director of the
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the Director of the Defense
Intelligence Agency all stated they believe terrorists will attempt
another attack on America within the next few months. I cannot
understand, Mr. President, why the sudden cooperation by Abdulmutallab
would be broadcast publicly to the media in detail when your
intelligence chiefs are unanimously warning that another attack on our
country is imminent. The release of this sensitive information has
no doubt been helpful to his terrorist cohorts around the world.
It is deeply disturbing to me that the Intelligence Committee would
be advised of sensitive information, and told of the vital imperative to
keep such information secret for the sake of national security, only to
see this information -- less than twenty-four hours later -- broadcast
to the world from the White House. This distortion of the
congressional notification process suggests that other considerations
are taking precedence over keeping timely and sensitive information away
from our enemies.
Some have tried to use Abdulmutallab’s sudden
cooperation as a justification for prosecuting this foreign terrorist in
an Article III court, but I believe this development supports an
opposing view. Because we treated him in this fashion, we followed
Miranda and advised him of his right to remain silent, losing five
crucial weeks for obtaining imminent threat information. Miranda
is issued when statements from the accused are needed to obtain a
conviction, but in this case we did not need his own statements as the
chemical evidence he was wearing and over 200 witnesses would ably
suffice; hence, the decision to Mirandize made no sense on a practical
or strategic level. Additionally, Abdulmutallab’s family was key
in gaining his cooperation, and in most cases the suicide bomber does
not have a moderate Islamic family willing to work with the United
States; in fact, the opposite is most often the case (as with the
suicide bomber that killed seven CIA officers in Khost, whose wife
applauded her husband’s actions).
I urge you, Mr. President, to
consider the consequences of publicly disseminating sensitive
information vital to the defense of the American people. I do not
believe the American people want this information jeopardized to further
political arguments. The American people rightfully expect the
government’s first priority to be their security. It is also
critical that our courageous law enforcement and intelligence
professionals know that they can trust that sensitive information vital
to their efforts to protect the American people will not be disclosed.

Obama Says Anything -- And Does So, Again and Again
Hugh Hewitt
says said the caller from Atlanta said, "I have seen more of
President Obama than I have of my wife, and I'm a newlywed."
Funny. And true. And sad. Stung by his defeat in
Massachusetts after a personal appearance on behalf of Martha Coakley
and a long speech telling Massachusetts voters why they had to send her
to Washington, Obama seems intent on punishing the entire nation with
speech after speech after speech.
We are to be cajoled into
submission.
It isn’t working. "He talks and talks," Mark
Steyn said on my show Thursday. "And the more his rhetoric is
detached from reality, the more he’s actually devaluing his only
currency which is words."
Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats
on Wednesday is the perfect example of the political cul-de-sac he finds
himself in. He is trying to use words to change the political
weather, but the more he speaks, the more ridiculous his arguments
appear.
He told the senators that "they needed to get out there,
get out of Washington, out of the echo chamber." This is laughable
when this past August is recalled. Democrats went home to their
states and districts and found town halls jammed with ObamaCare
opponents. Then Obama urged them to disregard the voters.
They did so, and their political peril is palpable. Now he is
telling them to hold more town halls.
That’s not amazing as
Obama’s rewrite of budget history, which somehow ignores that the budget
deficit was $161 billion in 2007 and now stands at $1.6 trillion, a
staggering number that is spooking markets. "We’ve also got to get
back to fiscal responsibility," he told the senators, and the listeners
outside the room howled. Not only is Obama not persuading the
public of his ideas or his leadership skills, he is shrinking before
their very eyes. It is a poor impersonation of Jon Lovitz, with
Obama thinking, "that’s the ticket!" with every paragraph he utters.
Obama does seem to realize that blaming President Bush, which was
never very presidential to begin with, has become almost a sign of
adolescence. He is thus pivoting from blaming his predecessor to
blaming the Congressional GOP. Obama told the senators that they
had had to face more filibusters in a single year than all of the
filibusters of the 1950s and 1960s combined, and blamed the Republicans
for obstructionism. Of course this is nonsense. Not a single
successful partisan filibuster was mounted in 2009, which is not
surprising because after Arlen Specter’s switch, the GOP totaled 40
votes. A handful of Obama nominees languished because significant
numbers of Democrats joined Republicans in opposing them, but the idea
that obstructionism prevailed throughout 2009 is risible, and Obama who
claims 60 votes is just not enough is risible as well.
The
entire meeting was comedy though it was intended as drama, and Obama
left thinking he’d had another great day, just as he thinks he won his
debate with Republicans the Friday before.
While Obama pats
himself on the back, however, the unemployment numbers climbed, the
budget deficit shocked, the markets tanked and Iran threatened.
Obama is in a bubble of words and surrounded by "advisors" who are
clearly overmatched by the world. Even Republicans have to hope a
shuffle is ahead for the senior staff, and that some experienced
leadership is brought to 1600. The country is in a difficult
place, and unlike a debate tournament, losing a few rounds has enormous
consequences.
We have to hope that Obama recognizes that his
speech offensive has become offensive, and that what really needs to be
done is some work. Beginning with a red pen and his absurd budget.
When he asks his party to do anything remotely difficult --and that does
not include demanding ruinous taxes on the small businesses they so
obviously disdain and in some cases despise-- people may begin to listen
again.
Or perhaps not. Obama may already be in reruns in
most voters minds, which makes for a long three years ahead.

we've all heard the expression, "a mirror image." Most think the
image and the reflection are the same when in reality -- they are
opposites.
What we saw and heard from Obama on the campaign
trail was one thing (the mirror image), and what we are getting now is
the true Obama. A far left politician with an almost alien agenda.
He simply wants to change American into his personal vision of what he
thinks America should be. His ideals come from years of influence
by people who believe that capitalism is an evil and corrupt system.
He is using the economic downturn, which is a normal part of a free
market system, to advance his agenda. An agenda not of the
European socialist kind, but one far more radical and foreign to the
traditional American system. This is a power grab that puts the
efforts of Hugo Chavez to shame. Its beginning to take shape and
some see the looming danger it presents while others stand in awe
waiting for the next words of the great orator.

Zeituni's Can Kicked Down The Road

comments on a Boston Globe
report of an immigration hearing that could lead to the deportation
of Obama’s aunt, Zeituni Onyango,
ended today without a decision being issued. Onyango has been
living in Boston and has been under a deportation order since 2004 when
her request for asylum was denied by a US Immigration Court judge.
Actually, Ms. Onyango was first ordered to be deported in 2003,
according to another Boston Globe article.
She appealed that
order in a closed-door hearing at the John F. Kennedy Building in
downtown Boston, testifying for about three hours yesterday.
Onyango, who leaned on a cane as she moved around
the building, did not speak with reporters. Neither her attorney,
Margaret Wong, nor Wong’s spokeswoman, Amy Cohn, would discuss her
testimony. Wong said Obama has not submitted any letter on behalf
of his aunt.
At the White House today, spokesman Robert Gibbs
said Obama is staying out of the matter. Obama learned about his
aunt’s legal plight in 2008 during his campaign, Gibbs said. "We said
then and we would continue to say that everybody in this country should
and must follow the law," he said, according to a transcript supplied by
the White House. "We have not been involved at all in that
hearing, and we’ll let the law play out as it should."
The
aunt’s legal team said they were calling two medical doctors as
witnesses. They identified the doctors as Dr. David Stone and Dr.
Robert Weiss. Stone, they said, is Onyango’s personal physician.
They declined to identify Weiss’s medical specialty or hospital
affiliation. "The doctors are here in relation to her medical
condition, but that’s not every aspect of the case," Cohn said…
Why is this hearing being held behind closed doors? That is not
the convention. Is national security involved? And why has
Ms. Onyango’s case taken so long to decide? She has been ordered
to be deported twice; first in 2003, and then in 2004. And, lest
we forget, her deportation hearing was postponed from April of last year
until yesterday. And now the decision has been postponed again.
Meanwhile, in the past seven years nothing whatsoever has occurred
to change the circumstances of the case. Certainly the political
situation in Kenya is no worse now, since one of her relatives, Raila
Odinga, is the current Kenyan Prime Minister. No, all that has
changed is that Ms. Onyango has added to her list of illegal acts.
Which include an illegal $260 contribution to her nephew's presidential
campaign.
She has also continued to bilk the US taxpayers out of
money for public housing as well as expensive operations and, of course,
for her immigration lawyers.
As the article suggests, Ms.
Onyango’s attorneys are now claiming that her medical condition prevents
her from returning to her native Kenya. In fact, her lawyers now
claim that Ms. Onyango cannot walk. Indeed, her taxpayer supplied
attorney, Ms. Margaret Wong claims, "she has to go in a wheelchair but
because of her pride she tries to give the impression that she can
walk."
We have to say, it’s a mighty convincing "impression."
Besides, nobody is saying she has to walk back to Kenya.
The American taxpayer has been
paying for this parasite's existence for ten years, including that nice
outfit she's wearing in the photo.
We'll all be dead from
old age before they deport this serial lawbreaker. In the meantime
she will continue to receive free housing, free money, free medical, and
free legal -- is America a great country, or what?
It would be
interesting to know if she is registered to vote.

Billy's Back
Unrepentant domestic terrorist, and
self-described communist,
William "Bill" Ayers, is seeking to create a peace movement, "I think
that what we need is a peace movement, and I'm trying to build one."
Ayers want to create a "peace" movement to "save" Obama's posterior,
saying, "With any luck, the peace movement, the justice movement can
save his (Obama's) presidency. ... So to me the injunction is to get
busy and build a movement," Ayers stated in an April 2009 interview with
The Commentary Factory.com.
When asked how he plans to build his
"peace movement," Ayers
replied: "Well, I mean, how do you build a
movement? How do you build a civil rights movement or peace movement? Look at history. All kinds of ways, but what we need is to stop spending
billions of dollars on war and we need to invest in being a nation among
nations and giving up on the insanity of thinking we can conquer the
world."
But he'll have to interrupt his recent activities. Lately, Ayers has been involved with pro-Palestinian activism, and last
month, Ayers and his wife, Weather Underground co-founder Bernardine
Dohrn, were involved in provoking chaos on the streets of Egypt in an
attempt to enter the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip to join in solidarity
with the territory's population and leadership.
The protests
were led by Jodie Evans, co-founder of Code Pink, a
far-left activist organization formed in 2002 to protest America's war
in Iraq. The group previously met with Hamas and with leaders of the
Taliban. During the Iraq war, Evans delivered $600,000, in cash
and supplies, to the Fallujah insurgents -- our enemy. Evans, who
has been described as "the face
of the Democrats' future," was a
fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama's presidential campaign.
One of Obama's greatest
campaign lies was describing
Bill Ayers as, just "a guy who lives in my neighborhood."
Ayers,
not to be outdone, lied
that he knew Obama only slightly: "I think my relationship with Obama
was probably like that of thousands of others in Chicago and, like
millions and millions of others, I wished I knew him better."
In fact, in 1985, Bill
Ayers' Woods Fund put up the money
for Obama to move from New York to Chicago. In 1985 the foundation
gave a $25,000 grant to the Developing Communities Project (aka the
"DCP"), which hired Obama, at 24, as an organizer on Chicago's
economically depressed South Side." Later, Obama joined the board
of the Woods Fund in 1993 and remained until 2002.
In 1989, Obama
was a summer intern at Michelle Obama's law firm,
Sidley & Austin. Michelle was Barack's summer adviser. One
of Michelle's co-workers was Bernadine Dohrn, Bill Ayers' terrorist
wife.
In 1993, Barack Obama was named the the founding Chairman
of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Bill Ayers
organized the team to put together a grant proposal to secure nearly $50
million from the Annenberg Challenge. The money was to be used by
Ayers and company to bolster the radical Local School Councils reform
project that Ayers and Obama had championed back in 1988 through the
ABCs. Ayers personally selected
Obama to serve as chairman, and Obama served on the board for eight
years until the Challenge ended in 2003. During this time, Obama
and Ayers shared an office.
In 1995, a small group of people
came to the communist, Bill Ayers' house, to learn that the communist,
Alice Palmer, was stepping
down from the state senate and running for Congress. Said the
communist, Dr. Quentin Young,
a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, "[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor."
And, of
course, Obama and Ayers both hung out in the faculty lounge at the University of Chicago.
When Obama was unable to deliver
a manuscript of "Dreams..." to Random House, he turned to Bill Ayers to
help him finish what was to become a work of fiction, supposedly on the
advice of wife, Michelle. Thanks to the help he received from the
skilled Ayers, Obama was able to submit a manuscript to his editors.
Obama lied to cover up the 20-year plus relationship, and his
long-time friend and associate Bill Ayers lied right along with him --
remember, both these guys strongly believe that the end does justify the
means.
And, there are those that believe Obama first met Ayers in
1981-1982, while Obama was at Columbia College and Ayers was 371 yards
down the street at Bank Street College, where he was working towards an M.A. in
Early Childhood Education.

Another Doubting Thomas
Chelsea Schilling
is
reporting that the list of lawmakers and talkers questioning the
eligibility of Barack Obama is growing.
Tennessee state Senate
speaker and gubernatorial candidate Ron Ramsey has joined the growing
ranks of officials and prominent commentators who say they are unsure of
whether Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen.
Ramsey was asked Feb. 2
about the issue by Maclin Davis, a former state lawmaker and attorney
for the state GOP.
"I don't know whether President Obama is a
citizen of the United States or not," Ramsey responded. "I don't
know what the whole deal is there."
"But I'm going to tell you
something," he said. "When you walk out on the street down here,
people don't really care about this issue. "When we get off on
sidelines like that, that's when people say 'aw,' they close their ears
and don't listen," Ramsey said. "I'm not saying you're not right,
Mac, I'm not saying you're not right -- but that's not how you win
elections."
According to the report, Ramsey acknowledged that he
might be causing some apprehension among his political staff for even
addressing the eligibility issue. "I've got a table full of
advisers sitting over there, and they'll probably start cringing right
about now when I start talking about some of this stuff," he said.
Two things:
1. The
issue isn't about whether Obama is a citizen, or not. The issue is
whether Barack Obama meets the "natural born"
requirement of Article 2, Section I, Clause 5 of the Constitution of
the United States of America -- here is some
background info.

Obama Throws Congressional Democrats Under The Bus
Jake Tapper
reports that Obama gave a another speech last night. This one
was in front of the Organizing for America Obots, Democratic National
Committee (DNC) members, and was webcast to any of the millions in his
email database who wanted to hear Obama read another prepared script
from the teleprompter. It was clearly an attempt to rally his most
loyal supporters after his continuing string of personal defeats.
"I know some of you might feel discouraged,
Obama admitted, "because changing the ways of Washington is hard.
It’s harder than a lot of you thought it might be. Sometimes
it made you feel like it’s not possible. You might want to
give up. Don’t give up."
He added that while he wants "to take our time,"
the key though, is to "not let the moment slip away" on health care.
Newsmax.com is
reporting that the Obama agenda has been crippled, and that Senate
Democrats are fractured, as Scott Brown is sworn in.
Republican Scott Brown's swearing-in to the U.S. Senate means that Obama
and the Democrats, who still enjoy big majorities in both the House and
Senate, can do virtually nothing between now and the November elections
without the GOP's say-so.
So what happens if the bill in
Congress does not pass? It’s an election year, Obama said to
remember:
"If Congress decides we’re not going to do
it, even after all the facts are laid out, all the options are
clear, then the American people can make a judgment
as to whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or
not. And that’s how democracy works, with
the elections coming up. And they will be able to make a
determination, and register their concerns one way or the other
during election time."
Obama sees the
handwriting on the wall -- ObamaCare dies an inglorious death -- and he
puts the blame on the Democrats in Congress -- it wasn't Obama's
over-reaching -- he's never at fault.
Obama is a piece of work.
If it's successful, it's Obama's idea -- regardless of who thought of
it. If it fails, someone else is to blame. It's always
been that way with Obama.
Look for Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to
push back. They're not going to fall on their swords for Obama --
especially Nancy -- she's not going to give up
her perks.

John Hinderaker
adds, what is significant about this is that "corpsman" is a
military term. Obama knows little or nothing about the
military; it is as though he said "col-o-nel" instead of "kernel."
There are corpsmen stationed in the White House, but, after more
than a year, Obama apparently doesn't know who they are, what they
do, or how to pronounce their job.
God help Dan Quayle if he
had done something as stupid as saying "corpse-man." He never
did. Will Obama be laughed out of the Oval Office? The
jury is out.
Afterthought: This video
makes it obvious, that the first time Obama sees these speeches are
when they show up on the teleprompter, otherwise someone on his staff
surely would have corrected his pronunciation before the
event.

Obama’s Final Act Has Begun
The Post & Email says that final theatrical act of the greatest
shyster and swindler in the history of the world has begun, and there
seems to be no exit strategy which will save his goose.
I speak
of the Eligibility Crisis and Obama’s phony claims to legitimately hold
the office of the U.S. Presidency.
The opening words of the final
act were uttered by Obama himself, at this year’s National Prayer
Breakfast, this morning (video,
next item):
"You can question my policies without questioning
my faith -- or for that fact, my citizenship!"
To explain why Obama said this, and why he has
begun to run scared, one needs to consider the present political
climate.
Following the Democrats’ stunning and historic loss of
the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts -- who would believe that one year
ago? -- Obama’s party put in motion a political strategy which is pure
Hillary-esq. While appearing to defend Obama by politicizing his
birth story, the decision to engage head-on on that issue is undeniably
the most byzantine and Machiavellian way to get rid of him!
According to Politico, it was the
initiative of Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman
Robert Menendez. Among the ten litmus-test questions for a
politically acceptable Republican opponent in the upcoming 2010
elections, Menendez’s committee chose one wing-dinger:

Actually, both birth announcements are here, on The

O'Reilly -- what Big Bill thinks is irrelevant. There is not a
court in the country that would accept two clippings from 50-year-old
newspaper classified sections as evidence of anything. Just think
about it. The birth announcements mean nothing. Try getting
a driver's license with old newspaper clippings as documentation.

Obama Cracks
"You can question my policies without questioning my faith, or, for
that matter, my citizenship." (01:03)
Obama today at the National Prayer Breakfast raised the issue of his
own eligibility for office -- saying that people shouldn't be
questioning his "citizenship."
The questions, however, over
Obama's "citizenship," actually go to the core of the American
republic. Multiple lawsuits have challenged that he is not
qualified for the Oval Office under the Constitution's requirement
that U.S. presidents be a "natural born citizen."
The
plaintiffs -- who run into the hundreds so far and who still have a
number of cases pending at the appellate level -- have alleged that
failing to meet that constitutional requirement means he actually is
a usurper, with no actual authority to be president.
On a
forum page at The Hill newspaper, one commenter wrote that Obama has
only himself to blame for the questions.
"Personally I am no birther… but I am
curious as to why Obama continues to beat on this issue... is it
a political ploy by his handlers to continue to use this as a
divisive issue? To try and embarrass a certain segment of
the population? And if not, why doesn't he just provide
the certificate and end all the speculation for the conspirators
once and for all? Obama has certainly been a little less
than forthcoming on his grades, his Harvard review publications
and many other accomplishments…"
The reference apparently was the first time the
issue has been addressed by Obama, even though he did not provided
any answers. His press secretary, Robert Gibbs, repeatedly has
ridiculed questions related to the subject, and the White House
itself has declined to respond to any of a multitude of questions
submitted over months on the issue.
Despite his protestations, I
have to question the anointed one, since we have absolutely nothing
in common. I'm an American -- I don't know what the hell Obama
is.

Obama’s Auntie Still Freeloading

says Here’s another Obama sweetheart deal you won’t see on
C-SPAN.
This morning, the fate of Boston’s most infamous
illegal immigrant, Zeituni Polly Onyango (also known as "Aunt
Zeituni") will be determined in a closed-door hearing.
Why in
secret? Because Auntie’s saga reveals every embarrassing truth
that amnesty advocates and open-borders liberals like Mayor Tom
Menino and Gov. Deval Patrick try to hide.
The most important
being that illegal immigrants don’t get that way without first doing
something, well, illegal.
Barack Obama’s Aunt Zeituni admits
she illegally overstayed her visa. Instead of obeying the law,
she went to a judge in 2003 with a bogus request for asylum.
She was turned down. She ignored the deportation order and
instead filed an appeal. She was told again: It’s illegal for
you to stay -- she’s still here.
Aunt Zeituni donated $260 to
her nephew’s campaign for president -- which is also against the law
because she’s not a U.S. citizen. How against the law is it?
Remember when Obama launched his unprecedented attack against the
Supreme Court during his State of the Union? His complaint was
that foreigners might donate money to influence U.S. elections.
All these crimes extend from the first crime -- violating our
immigration laws. It is simply impossible to stay in this
country illegally without committing other crimes, like tax fraud
and identity theft.
But it’s not the illegal stuff that Aunt
Zeituni’s doing that’s so outrageous. It’s what she’s
apparently able to do legally and openly.
She is shamelessly
-- and happily -- living in taxpayer-subsidized housing intended for
citizens and legal immigrants. Is there some poor American
veteran living in a shelter because she’s got this apartment?
Aunt Zeituni doesn’t care -- why should she? Menino and the
Boston Housing Authority don’t.
And now she’s back in court,
using taxpayer resources with another bogus bid for asylum.
She says she can’t go back to Kenya because of "political turmoil."
Sorry lady, but if that’s the basis for an appeal, nobody would have
been allowed back in the White House since Scott Brown’s election.
Aunt Zeituni’s case puts the lie to the old canard that all
criminal immigrants are here to work. She gets a stipend from
a city program, along with her housing. In fact, as the Center
for Immigration Studies points out, illegal immigrant households are
far more likely to be on the dole than the average American.
She also highlights the obvious truth of the Heritage Foundation
study that our 12 million illegal immigrants are a $2.2 trillion net
drain on the taxpayers over the course of their lifetimes.
All of which ignores the most obvious and angering question:
Why are Boston taxpayers stuck taking care of the law-breaking aunt
of the President of the United States?
She’s got a
millionaire in the family right now, one who also happens to live in
public housing, by the way. He’s got room, too. Worst
case scenario, Joe Biden can bunk with Bo.
Instead we get
another secret deal that’s almost certain to keep the taxpayers on
the hook. Obama, here’s a problem you can solve with a phone
call. Get your aunt a plane ticket to Kenya, or D.C., or hey
-- how about Nebraska?
Call it the Ben Nelson version of
immigration reform. We pay for their Medicaid, Omaha pays for
your aunt.
Obama could
always put Aunt Zeituni up in his Chicago mansion -- it's currently
unoccupied.

Holder Says He Made Crotch Bomber Decision
9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America
comment on
Attorney General Eric Holder saying he made the decision to charge the
Crotch Bomber terror suspect in
the civilian system with no objection from all the other relevant
departments of the government. In a letter to Senate Republican
Leader Mitch McConnell, the attorney general says that the FBI told its
partners in the intelligence community on Christmas Day and again the
next day that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab would be charged criminally.
Mr. Holder apparently misunderstands his oath of office:
"I (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that
I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States
against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true
faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely
without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I
will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which
I am about to enter. So help me God."
Nowhere within those words or our Constitution are
the enemies of the United States afforded the rights of American
citizens. It is reckless to unilaterally provide a fair fight to
those waging war against our troops abroad and civilians here at home.
Holder should resign and Obama should replace him with someone
with no interest in defending the enemy’s "rights."
In an
interview with 60 Minutes last spring, Obama discussed the handling of
captured terrorists and challenged those who claimed the "American
system of justice was not up to the task of dealing with these
terrorists." Obama said: "I fundamentally disagree with that.
Now -- do these folks deserve Miranda rights? Do they deserve to
be treated like a shoplifter -- down the block? Of course not."
I don't believe Holder made
that decision. Holder, the Attorney General, and Gates, the
Secretary of Defense are peers -- equals. Both report to Barack
Obama. Gates can't order Holder to do anything. Holder can't
order Gates to do anything.
This decision was made by Obama.

Did Reuters Yank Article Because It Was Too Truthful?

says sometimes, the truth hurts. In the case of an article
published yesterday at 4:04 p.m. Eastern, it appears that Reuters
editors were afraid writer Terri Cullen’s adventure into truthful
journalism might hurt their news agency’s relationship with Barack Obama
-- so they yanked it.
Published under the headline "Backdoor
taxes hit middle class," the article opened by describing the Obama
Administration’s plan to cut more than $1 trillion from the deficit over
the next decade as relying "heavily on so-called backdoor tax increases
that will result in a bigger tax bill for middle-class families."
Four hours and three minutes after it hit the wire, the story was
"withdrawn," apparently at the Administration’s urging, with a promise
that "a replacement story will run later in the week."
Why did
Reuters pull the story? One site cited a Reuters rep as saying the
piece was withdrawn "due to significant errors of fact" and "should not
have gone out." I think it was the language used in the article
that prompted Reuters to pull it. In particular, it was the series
of phrases shown below that, combined with the one mentioned above, must
have made the hair stand up on the back of Rahm Emanuel’s neck:
"…effectively a tax hike by stealth."
"middle-class families will face a slew of these backdoor
increases."
Perhaps the largest contributing factor to the
article being yanked is a list of tax break provisions popular among
middle-class families that Obama might allow to expire:

The "Ellie Light" Scandal
Brent Bozell says the declining (or is it dying?) newspaper industry
has suffered another blow to its image as punctilious skeptic. So
much for the motto, "If your mother says she loves you, check it out."
It turns out a pile of American newspapers can’t manage to check out the
most basic information about people who are flat-out using their pages
to push political agendas.
A person with the name of "Ellie
Light" has been successfully published with the same letter in at least
68 newspapers defending President Obama -- defrauding the editors by
using local addresses. Reports have "her" published in two papers
overseas.
Who is "Ellie Light"? We know this much: "She" is
a fraud.
Is this an official White House or Organizing for
America campaign? Is it simply a dirty trick? Is this
brass-knuckles (and dishonest) politics from the DNC? Or an
unauthorized Obama groupie? Some investigating conservative
bloggers have found several candidates for the mysterious "Light" writer
that could be connected to Obama.
But the ObamaMedia won’t.
This story hurts Obama, so they’ll spike it. Count on that.
Gawker has confirmed
that the mysterious pro-Obama letter-writer is, in fact, a nurse named
Barbara Brooks from Kern County, Calif. Except now Brooks says
it's really her husband, Winston Steward (picture).

Obama Makes A Mockery Of His Own Lobbyist Ban
Timothy P. Carney says more than 40 former lobbyists work in senior
positions in the Obama administration, including three Cabinet
secretaries and the CIA director. Yet in his State of the Union
address, Obama claimed, "We've excluded lobbyists from policymaking
jobs."
Did Obama speak falsely?
Well, it depends on what
the definition of "excluded lobbyists" is.
I asked the White
House if he chose his words poorly, but the media affairs office
defended Obama's statement: "As the President said," a spokeswoman wrote
in an e-mail, "we have turned away lobbyists for many, many positions."
So, the country may have heard, "we haven't hired lobbyists to
policymaking jobs," but the White House tells us Obama meant, "we only
hired some of the lobbyists who applied for policymaking jobs." In
other words, they've excluded some lobbyists.
And this was in the
context of reducing the "deficit of trust."
So Obama has, indeed,
taken a Clintonian turn, but not toward the center. Instead, he
has adopted our 42nd president's use of clearly misleading statements
that can be parsed so as to be factually correct, at least in a general
sort of way.
Rush Limbaugh On Obama's State Of The Nation Speech
Well, yeah. I
gave up after 50 minutes. I heard it all before. There
was nothing new in it. The only difference was the tone. I
went back and listened to some of his soaring rhetorical speeches during
the campaign. This was defensive, petulant, immature, childish,
sarcastic. He's clearly angry that he's been rejected -- that his
wonderfully brilliant ideas (health care and cap and trade) have been
rejected. I saw a guy, a young, inexperienced guy just mad.
I think, Gretchen -- I really do. I think this is the first time
in his life that there's not a professor around to turn his C into an A
or to write the law review article for him that he can't write.
He's totally exposed. There's nobody to make it better. I
think he's been covered for all of his life. The fact that his
agenda has totally failed this year is the best thing that could have
happened to this country. I thank God every day that this is going
down the tubes, that that Massachusetts election happened. Not
that God had anything to do with it. That's just the person I
thank.

Attorney General Will Not
Corroborate Obama Birth
The Post & Email is reporting
that while political momentum is building within the Democratic Party
from coast to coast to make the
issue of Obama’s claims to be born in
Hawaii a litmus test for its political opponents in the 2010 general
elections for Congress, a key component in such a strategy has been
undermined by the Hawaii Attorney General’s Office.
In
correspondence with The Post & Email, Jill T. Nagamine, Deputy Attorney
General for the State of Hawaii, has made it clear that her office will
not corroborate or back in any way the July 27, 2009 Statement of Dr.
Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawaii Department of Health, which
declared Obama Hawaiian-born and a "natural-born American citizen."
The stunning admission was made in an email sent to the Editor of
this paper yesterday evening.
The implications of this denial are
catastrophic for the Democratic strategy.
The Hawaii Attorney
General’s office has the duty to prosecute the laws of the State. Mark
J. Bennett, the current Attorney General, was appointed to the office by
Governor Lingle on Jan. 3, 2003. He is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney
General for Honolulu, and a graduate of Cornell’s Law School. Bennett is
the first Republican to hold the office in 40 years.
According to
published reports, Dr. Fukino has admitted that her July 27th
statement
received the verbal approval of the Hawaii Attorney General, who "o.k.’d
it."
In an attempt to corroborate the contents of Dr. Fukino’s
statement and understand better the value of that testimony, I put the
following two questions to Nagamine, as a member of the press.
I
am seeking some information in response to 2 questions I have. Please
understand that your response(s) or non-response will be quoted by our
paper.
Q. 1: Does the Director of the Hawaii Department of Health
have any statutory duty or authority to define the citizenship status of
anyone whose vital record(s) are kept by that department?
Q.2:
According to the legal references employed by your office, what is the
defition of a "natural-born citizen" of the United States of America?
I put my question to the Deputy Attorney General to avoid putting
the Attorney General in a situation of a conflict of interest, if he in
fact, did, as Dr. Fukino claims, advise her regarding her July
statement.
Nagamine, in response, asserted that any answer to
such questions given by her office would represent a conflict of
interest for her office. And that is an explicit admission that Dr. Fukino had no statutory authority nor duty to make such a statement, and
that the Attorney General’s office will not stand behind Fukino’s claim
that Obama is a "natural-born American citizen." It is such, because if Fukino’s declaration had legal weight of any kind, surely a response to
my questions would have corroborated that without such a
conflict-of-interest scenario. You only have a conflict if the Fukino
claim would not be supported by a Nagamine response.
The Washington Post is
reporting that Obama will make his first international trip of the
year in March, visiting Indonesia and Australia. The trip will be
somewhat of a homecoming for Obama, who
lived and was
educated for several
years in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, as a
child. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says Obama will formally
launch a comprehensive partnership with Indonesia during the trip.
This reminds me of an An American Expat in Southeast Asia blog entry
about the last time a bunch of Americans went to Jakarta:
U.S.
Congressman Eni Faleomavaega (D -- American Samoa) was in Jakarta, Indonesia, where had a private
meeting in Jakarta with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono and Barnabas Suebu the governor for the Indonesian
province of Papau. In the meeting, Faleomavaega asked to
travel to Obama's childhood school.
According to our
Indonesian sources, "officials" who accompanied Faleomavaega were
interested in acquiring any and all documentation or photographs of
a young Barry Soetoro for America's "national archives" and they
were offering cash, lots of it. In a show of faith, Barack
Obama's childhood school would be one of the very first
beneficiaries of this outpouring receiving thousands of dollars to
upgrade the school and for the purchase of computer equipment,
thanks in part to the benevolence of this visiting junket.
The challenge of course was securing Indonesian government records
potentially damaging to Barack Obama's candidacy
for the U. S. presidency as well as other records pertaining to a
young Barry Soetoro and his family wouldn't be so easy to acquire
and secure, and for this, the visitors would need the assistance and
cooperation of the Indonesian government.
In a January 20, 2010 editorial, the Editor in Chief of U.S. News &
World Report, Mortimer Zuckerman, had this to say: "Obama’s ability to
connect with voters is what launched him. But what has surprised
me is how he has failed to connect with the voters since he’s been in
office. He’s had so much overexposure. You have to be
selective. He was doing five Sunday shows. How many press
conferences? And now people stop listening to him… He’s lost
his audience. He has not rallied public opinion. He has
plunged in the polls more than any other public figure since we’ve been
using polls. He’s done everything wrong. Well, not
everything, but the major things… I don’t consider it a triumph.
I consider it a disaster." And that’s what his friends are saying
about him.
As the boy president occupied the White House on
January 20, 2009 it was predictable that his presidency would last a
year, at most, because the things he promised and the things he stood
for were so uniquely un-American. Looking back over his year in
office, any reasonably precocious fourth grader could make a cogent
argument in opposition to nearly everything he’s done. In fact,
his policies have been so extreme and so far outside the mainstream that
he was destined to achieve the most spectacular fall from grace of any
American president in history. It was easy to see him serving out
the final three years of his term as a virtual exile in the White
House…afraid to venture out among any but the most rabid partisans.
Seeing his most ambitious initiative, healthcare reform, die in the
flames of the Massachusetts Massacre, Obama made a hastily-planned
"sortie" to Ohio for yet another Bush-bashing, self-aggrandizing stump
speech on job creation. It was vintage Obama… full of left wing
hyperbole and planted questions from the Kool-Ade drinkers in the
hand-picked audience… but there were just two things wrong with it:
1) Almost everything he said was either wrong or an outright lie, and,
2) He is so overexposed that no one in the television audience
really wanted to see him.
Obama Kool-Ade drinkers in the media,
and elsewhere, like to describe Obama as a "very bright man, a true
intellectual (compared to George W. Bush and Sarah Palin, of course)."
If that is the case, why has he demonstrated such a great inability to
learn from his failures? The strident words and the in-your-face
attitude of his Ohio speech were proof that he has totally misread the
meaning of the Scott Brown victory in Massachusetts. Whatever
hopes and dreams he had for his time in the White House, whatever
grandiose plans he had for transforming the United States from a
constitutional republic with a free market economy into a socialist
dictatorship with a centrally planned economy, were all lost on Tuesday,
January 19, 2010…one day short of a full year in office. Yet, he
appears to have learned nothing from the experience.
A Strategic Redefining Of Homeland Security's Mission
Obama delivered the nation's first Quadrennial Homeland Security
Review to Congress, defining homeland security for the first time as
including hazards beyond terrorism, in a strategic document intended to
drive long-term budget decisions.
Congress mandated the
high-level strategic review in 2007, two years after Hurricane Katrina
exposed failings in the government's response and four years after the
creation of the Department of Homeland Security. The initiative
was modeled after the Quadrennial Defense Review, another
congressionally mandated effort that directed the Defense Department to
reset its strategies and budgets against evolving threats every four
years.
Analysts said that production of the 88-page document
marked a successful milestone for DHS, even though it is not as thorough
as the Pentagon's version and will not be as influential.
"It is
an incredible achievement," said James Jay Carafano, homeland security
expert at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, noting
that it came months after a Democratic administration's takeover of the
department, that the Obama administration had never before run a
quadrennial review for homeland security and that DHS lacked the Defense
Department's resources.
"This study has given them a road map
for how they are going to think through tough problems," including
developing department human resources, analytical capabilities and
research priorities, Carafano said.
Stewart Baker, former DHS
assistant secretary of policy from 2005 to 2009, said that while the
attempt to link DHS budget, strategy and threat information might be
"lightweight compared to the Quadrennial Defense Review, it's
heavyweight compared" to how, a couple years ago, officials in George W.
Bush's administration had to make decisions based on "budget politics of
the moment."
A copy of the review, obtained by The Washington
Post, shows that the government's approach to homeland security
continues to evolve away from a singular focus on terrorism.
The
issue is still vexing because many experts still struggle to explain,
"What is homeland security?" "How is the homeland best made
secure?" and "What does it mean to be prepared?," the review notes.
Kinda makes
you feel safe, huh? -- "What is homeland security?" -- and, "defining
homeland security for the first time as including hazards beyond
terrorism, in a strategic document intended to drive long-term budget
decisions." -- this document isn't about security -- it's about "driving
long-term budget decisions" -- including hazards beyond terrorism --
that's bureaucratese for more reparations and redistribution.
These people aren't working on security issues. They're spending all
their time figuring out how to loot America.

Obama Again Criticizes Trips To Las Vegas
ABC News
reports Obama is catching heat from Nevada lawmakers and business
leaders regarding his comments Tuesday criticizing trips to Las Vegas.
During Obama's phony town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, he
discussed the need to curb spending during tough economic times. "When
times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don't go buying a boat when
you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on
Vegas when you're trying to save for college."
Obama's comments
come nearly a year after he criticized companies that received federal
money for taking corporate junkets to Las Vegas. "You can't go take that
trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on taxpayers' dime," he
said at the time. Local business leaders say Nevada tourism suffered
last year in part because companies canceled trips to Las Vegas in the
wake of his comments.
His statement Tuesday drew sharp criticism
from Nevada lawmakers. "The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and
stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending
their money," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat. "Las
Vegas is suffering through one of the highest unemployment rates in the
country, and we cannot afford for the President to bring us down any
further," added Republican Senator John Ensign. "Nevada has one of the
most distressed economies in the country, and the President has done
little to focus on job creation over the past year. Discouraging people
from coming to our state to make a political point adds insult to
injury," said Republican Congressman Dean Heller.
"Tourism is the
number one economic stimulus for Southern Nevada and for many cities and
states across the country. While we appreciate Las Vegas is top of mind
for the President, we would ask that he offer words of encouragement
instead of criticism," Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority
President and CEO Rossi Ralenkotter said.
Obama is scheduled to
visit Las Vegas this month, where he will undoubtedly be warmly met by
mayor, who referred to Obama as a "slow learner."
What's really grotesque is Obama
was using the boat and Vegas thingy as examples of the types of spending
that should be cut when things are tight -- then he goes on to compare
this to the way his administration is cutting spending.
He's
insane! He's in charge of a government that is the biggest
spenders in the history of the planet -- and it's only going to get
worse.

We Have Made Historic Strides
In his budget message to Congress, Barack Obama said, "Already, we
have made historic strides … to cut wasteful spending." He made
the comment while presenting a budget proposal that for the second year
in a row would fix federal spending at a percentage of Gross Domestic
Product that is higher than at any time in the past 65 years.
In
both fiscal 2010 and fiscal 2011, Obama’s budgets would have the federal
government spend more than a quarter of the all the wealth produced by
the nation in that year.
No president since Franklin Delano
Roosevelt has consumed such a large a share of the nation’s wealth
through federal spending -- and FDR did it in the midst of World War II.
According to the historical tables that the White House released
with Obama’s budget yesterday, the federal government will spend 25.4
percent of GDP in fiscal 2010, the federal budget year that will end on
September 30. Under the new budget that Obama is proposing for
fiscal year 2011, the federal government will spend 25.1 percent of GDP
in fiscal 2011, which begins on October 1.
Both of these budgets
fall wholly within Obama’s term of office and would be approved by a
Democratic Party that controls both houses of Congress.
By
comparison, in fiscal 2002 and fiscal 2003, the first two years in which
President George W. Bush presented budgets to Congress, federal spending
ended up being 19.1 percent and 19.7 percent of GDP, respectively.
In the first two Obama budgets, spending has averaged 25.25 percent
of GDP. In the first two Bush budgets, spending averaged 19.4
percent of GDP. That means that Obama, so far, is spending
30 percent more of GDP per year than Bush.
In 2008,
Bush’s final full year in office, federal spending was 20.7 percent of
GDP. According to the budget projections released by the White
House on Monday, federal spending will be 23.2 percent of GDP in 2012,
the lowest rate for any of the four years of Obama’s term. As the
White House now calculates it, Obama will easily be the biggest spending
president since World War II.
By comparison, FDR spent only 10.7
percent and 9.2 percent of GDP in 1934 and 1935, his second and third
years of office, during the Great Depression. This year, Obama
will spend almost three times as much of the national wealth as FDR did
in 1935
We have made

he a con man? -- deluded? -- incompetent? -- purposeful? -- one has to
wonder if Obama believes his own BS?

Obama Parts Company With Reality

says
the Obama administration unveiled its budget for FY 2011. The
budget ostensibly covers the next ten years, but its projections for
future years are meaningless. The only year for which it has any
significance is 2011, in which it anticipates $3.8 trillion in spending
and an astonishing $1.6 trillion deficit. In 2006, the last year
in which the Republicans controlled Congress, the deficit was $248
billion -- one-seventh what Obama proposes for next year.
In his
budget announcement today, Obama said: "[O]ur government is deeply in
debt after what can only be described as a decade of profligacy."
So he proposes to put the country far more deeply in debt through
profligacy of a sort that was undreamed of just a few years ago.
Obama said: "[W]e can't simply move beyond this crisis; we have to
address the irresponsibility that led to it, and that includes the
failure to rein in spending...." But his budget doesn't rein in
spending, it increases it over last year's precedent-shattering total by
around $100 billion.
Obama said: "[I]t would be a terrible
mistake to borrow against our children's future to pay our way
today...." His budget, in just the next year, will borrow $1.6
trillion against our children's future to pay our way today.
Either Obama has completely lost touch with reality, or he thinks we
have.
UPDATE: One more thing. The Wall Street Journal
estimates that Obama's proposed repeal of many of the Bush tax cuts will
cost Americans who earn more than $200,000 per year $1 trillion over the
next decade, assuming that Obama's tax increases are not reversed.
Obama won in 2008 with what Michael Barone called a "top and bottom
coalition." He carried lower-income voters and those with incomes
over $250,000, while middle-income voters went for McCain. Now,
Obama can kiss the top part of that coalition goodbye.

In America, Barack Obama Is Talking
Mark Steyn
says he's talking. Talking, talking, talking. He talked
for 90 minutes on the State of the Union. No matter how many
geckos you shoveled down your briefs, you still lost feeling in your
legs. And still he talked. If you had an erogenous zone
before, by the end, it was undetectable even to Frenchmen. But on
he talked. As respected poverty advocate and former Sen. John
Edwards commented, "After the first hour, even my malevolent genie was
back in the bottle."
Like any gifted orator, Obama knows how to
vary the talk with a little light and shade. Sometimes he hectors,
sometimes he whines, sometimes he demands. "We do not quit," he
said. Boy, you can say that again!
So he did: "We don't
quit. I don't quit," he said. But throughout the chamber,
Democrats were quitting. "I quit," says Rep. Marion Berry of
Arkansas, declining to run in November. "I quit," says Sen. Byron
Dorgan of North Dakota, doing likewise. "I quit," says Beau Biden
of Delaware, son of Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., choosing not to
run for his father's seat.
But not Barack Obama. On he
went. As National Review Editor Rich Lowry put it after the
Massachusetts vote, the public thinks Obama doesn't get it, and Obama
thinks the public doesn't get it. As he has the microphone, he's
gonna keep talking at you until you do get it. The ever tinnier,
more perfunctory sophomoric uplift at the start and finish can't conceal
the hope-killing, jobs-slaying, soul-sapping message in between, which
has been consistent for two years. As Obama sees it, whatever the
problem, the solution is more Washington.
Simply as a matter of
internal logic, this is somewhat perplexing. After all, when he
isn't blaming George W. Bush, Obama blames "Washington" -- a Washington
mired in "partisanship" and "pettiness" and "the same tired battles" and
"Washington gimmicks" that do nothing but ensure that our "problems have
grown worse." Washington, Obama tells us, is "unable or unwilling
to solve any of our problems."
So let's have more Washington!
That raises the question: Does even Obama listen to his speeches?
The public does -- at least to this extent: They
understand that when he's attacking the tired old Washington games, he's
just playing the game, but when he's proposing the tired old Washington
solutions, he means it. That's the only Barack Obama on offer.
And everything he proposes means more debt, which at the level this guy
is spending means higher taxes.
Functioning societies depend on
agreed rules. If you want to open a business, you do it in
Singapore or Ireland because the rules are known to all parties.
You don't go to Sudan or Zimbabwe, where the rules are whatever the
state's whims happen to be that morning.
That's why Obama is
such a job-killer. Why would a small business take on a new
employee? Obama is proposing a soak-the-banks tax that could
impact access to credit. The House has passed a cap-and-trade bill
that could impose potentially unlimited regulatory costs. The
Senate is in favor of health care reform that would allow the IRS to
seize your assets if you and your employees' health arrangements do not
meet the approval of the federal government. Some of these things
will pass into law; some of them won't. But all of them send a
consistent, cumulative message: There are no rules.
In
such an environment, would you hire anyone? Obama can bury it in
half a ton of leaden telepromptered sludge, but the message is clear:
more Washington, more regulation, more spending and no rules.
Obama and the Democrats have decided, in the current cliche, to "double
down." What's the endgame here? Obama gave it away in his
student loan "reform" proposals: If you choose to go into "public
service," any college loan debts will be forgiven because public service
is more noble than the selfish, money-grubbing private sector.
C'mon, everybody knows that. So we need to encourage more people
to go into public service?
Why? In the past 60 years, the
size of America's government work force has increased five times faster
than the population. Yet Obama says it's still not enough:
We have to divert more of our human capital into the government machine.
He's explicitly telling you: If you start a business, invent
something, provide a service, you're a schmuck. In the America
he's building, you'll be working 24/7 till you drop dead to fund an
ever-swelling bureaucracy. Obama's proposals are bold only insofar
as few men would offer such a transparent guarantee of disaster:
It's the audacity of hopelessness.
The end-game is simple to
progressives. When those working for the government, and for the
unions, and those on the dole outnumber the rest of us, they control the
country. Doesn't matter what the Constitution says.

Obama Buys Prison
Lynn Sweet is reporting that Obama budget includes $237 million to
buy an Illinois prison for Guantanamo detainees.
Obama's proposed
a $3.8-trillion fiscal 2011 federal budget that includes $237 million
for the purchase and upgrading of a prison in Illinois to house
detainees now at the Guantanamo Bay military prison in Cuba.
Obama sends his spending blueprint to Congress, with the money to buy
the nearly vacant Thomson Correctional Center in northwest Illinois, 150
miles west of Chicago, in the Department of Justice funding request.
The State of Illinois and the federal government are currently
negotiating over the purchase price of Thomson.
And we have a
perfect facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba that functions perfectly well.
This is nothing more than a $237 million kiss to Obama's cronies in
Illinois.

reporting that Ed Schultz, on his radio show, talked about meeting
with Obama advisor David Axelrod at the White House last week, along
with fellow liberal radio host Bill Press and several other left-wing
media types Schultz did not identify.
Schultz: First of all you walk into the
White House, in the West Wing, and there are picture all over, I
mean everywhere! Of President Obama! I mean, of his life in
the first year as president of the United States. Now I don't
know if that's the way it is with every president, but it was almost
a shrine. I mean, well, here's a picture of Obama the
president with his kids over here. There he is getting on Air

Schultz is a
far-left opinion-meister on MSNBC. He considers himself a
"progressive liberal." His talk
show is generally considered to be a very liberal-leaning program.
He is pro-union and centers a large portion of his radio show on the
"plight of working class Americans."
This display of Obama's
narcissism in the White House must really be something when an Obot like
Schultz is surprised.
Update: Just received this Hillbuz report from Stacy -- Today,
...took a much-needed break from the Internet and went down to the
Museum of Science & Industry here in Chicago to see the White House
model they have on display through February: it’s a to-scale
miniature, with cutaways into most of the rooms. Apparently, the
Zeif Family, who made and maintains this model, travels to the White
House in each administration, measures any changes that were made, and
recreates the interior of the White House to exacting detail.
They’ve been doing this since the Kennedy Administration.
What
disturbs us is that, if the model is really exact in all details, the
actual White House is chock full of crazy currently.
In the Zeif model, the East and West wings of the
White House are plastered with propaganda. Inside all the offices, there
are GIANT photos of the current First Family, the likes of which we’d
expect to see in Pyongyang or the old presidential palaces in Baghdad,
before the Husseins were ousted. They aren’t even particularly
good pictures -- like things cut out of People magazine or some other
propaganda piece run on the Obamas.
It’s just strange that the
Zeifs took the time to recreate everything else in such painstaking
detail, but then plaster the interior of the East and West wings (but
not the original White House itself), with giant images of Dr. Utopia
and his "fashion icon" wife. Unless the REAL East and West wings
really are covered in this garbage.
The miniature computer
screens in the offices are all functional, and play tiny propaganda
reels praising the Obamas. The White House cinema, located
in the Collonade between the White House and the East Wing, also plays a
DVD promoting the glory of all things Obama.

The Boston Herald is
reporting that the illegal alien aunt of Barack Obama could learn
this week whether she can put down roots in Boston -- or start packing
her bags for a one-way trip back to Kenya.
And, save for U.S.
Immigration Court Judge Leonard I. Shapiro, she’ll know before anyone
else. Zeituni Polly Onyango has persuaded Shapiro to bar the public from
her removal proceeding Thursday morning at the John F. Kennedy Federal
Building, though it’s unclear why.
"I assume (Shapiro) thought it
would be a three-ring circus. She’s the aunt of the president of the
United States -- the most famous man in the world," said Mike Rogers,
spokesman for the Ohio law firm defending Onyango, 57, against the
Department of Homeland Security.
Officials claimed no knowledge of Obama meddling on behalf of
his late father’s African half-sister, and said Onyango isn’t trying "to
capitalize" on family favoritism.
"Everyone knows she’s related to
him," Rogers said. "It’s a no-win situation for him. He can’t get
involved in this. The law has got to run its course."
Onyango, a
computer programmer, has been in the country illegally since 2004, when
Shapiro ordered her to leave. Recent attempts to reach her at the South
Boston housing development where she’s been living since a December 2008
stay of her deportation have been unsuccessful.

Obama's State of the Union Address notched 4th lowest on the
Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level Score Since FDR.
The text of
Obama's address has a readability score for an average 8th grader -- two
grades lower than George W. Bush's addresses and the historical average
for modern presidents
Barack Obama's ability as a public speaker
since his 2008 presidential campaign has been alternately viewed, often
depending on whether or not one is an Obama supporter, along various
dyads: being inspirational versus being aloof, intellectualizing versus
lecturing etc.
Along those lines, in her first month as a
commentator for FOX News, Sarah Palin criticized Obama's first State of
the Union Address on Wednesday night as "lecturing" the American public.
Unlike the criticisms hurled at his predecessor, however, few
have ever charged that Obama, a former senior lecturer in Constitutional
law at the University of Chicago Law School, has written or spoken too
simplistically or catered his words to the lowest common denominator.
However, a Smart Politics analysis of nearly 70 oral State of the
Union Addresses since the mid-1930s finds the text of Obama's speech on
Wednesday evening to have one of the lowest scores on the Flesch-Kincaid
readability test ever recorded by a U.S. President.

During the presidential campaign,
Obama consistently and falsely claimed that he was a law professor.
The Sun-Times reported
that, "several direct-mail pieces issued for Obama's primary [Senate]
campaign said he was a law professor at the University of Chicago.
He is not. He is a senior lecturer (now on leave) at the school.
In academia, there is a vast difference between the two titles.
Details matter." In academia, there's a significant difference:
professors have tenure while lecturers do not.
The University of
Chicago Law School has now posted a statement
declaring his claims semantically sound: "The Law School has received
many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as
"Senior Lecturer."
From 1992 until his election to the U.S.
Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a instructor in the Law School.
He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from
1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year.
Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty
and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track.
The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer,
which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law
School's Senior Lecturers have high-demand careers in politics or public
service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during
his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join
the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined."
I have previously
questioned this guys intellectual capacity -- he's clever -- and
smart -- but he's no deep thinker -- he's more concerned with the "Final
Four" and the college football playoffs than he is with Iran and their
nasty nukes.

Obama Won't Connect Terror Dots
The Washington Times
says the state of the Caliphate is better than it should be.
When a man is apprehended with a cache of weapons, body armor, a map of
a military installation and jihadist personal effects, the natural
response of most Americans is to assume the situation is
terrorist-related. The Obama administration says otherwise.
Lloyd R. Woodson was arrested Jan. 25 in rural New Jersey. He had
been observed behaving strangely, wearing military-style fatigues and a
bulletproof vest. He had a weapon modified to fire .50-caliber
rounds from beneath his jacket. He had a hotel room full of
weapons and ammunition. Despite all these warning signs, the
immediate response from the government was that this was "not a
terrorism thing."
Bureaucratic lack of concern raises a critical
question: If this is not the behavior of a terrorist, what is?
It's not clear what Obama thinks terrorism is, if it thinks it exists at
all. The administration doggedly maintains that political,
especially jihadist, violence
by individuals with no international linkage is not terrorism.
This definition might come as a surprise to the Unabomber, who for years
was the most sought-after terrorist in America.
Obama's
knee-jerk response that the Christmas Day bombing plot was not
terror-related was probably one of the factors that led
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to be
Mirandized quickly and treated as a criminal suspect. It shouldn't
matter that this was a domestic incident; he is a jihadist warrior, and
the aircraft was his battlefield.
The same was the case with
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, charged
with killing 14 persons and wounding 31 in the Fort Hood massacre.
America was assured that Maj. Hasan had no foreign terrorist links, and
he was not charged with committing an act of terrorism. The Obama
administration's report on the shooting, released three weeks ago,
avoids mentioning radical Islam as a motivating factor in his rampage.
However, both Maj. Hasan and Mr. Abdulmutallab had relationships with
Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who is a leading member of al
Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula, and Abdulmutallab was trained by al
Qaeda overseas.
Woodson also may have links to Islamic radicals.
A report by the Northeast Intelligence Network reveals that, according
to a member of New Jersey law enforcement, Woodson's personal effects
"not only associate him with 'radical Islam,' but also with a 'militant
Islamic group.'" But as the two cases mentioned above indicate,
even this would not qualify him as a terrorist under the Obama
administration's narrow definition.
In his State of the Union
address, Obama bragged that in 2009, "hundreds of al Qaeda's fighters
and affiliates, including many senior leaders, have been captured or
killed -- far more than in 2008." He claims this is a metric of
progress. However, if Taliban leader Mullah Omar gave a State of
the Caliphate address, he could make the same claim. More
Coalition forces are being killed in Afghanistan, and Taliban attacks
are increasing in size, scope and frequency.
Analysts suggest
that Osama bin Laden's audiotape released last week signals the
potential for future attacks. An unusually high number of people
on no-fly lists are trying to board aircraft. Increasing
casualties and activity on both sides are not metrics of progress; they
are signs that the war is heating up.
According to the Pew
Research Center, terrorism ranks slightly below jobs and the economy as
a top public priority. Americans know there is a problem.
Official statements claiming that incidents are not terror-related will
not change the fact that they are. Connect the dots, Mr. Obama.
The war on terrorism is still on, and it's getting hotter.

Easy On The Enemy -- Obama's Attempt To Impress Liberals
Just whom are we trying to impress?
That's a question that
occurred to me when, on his second full day in the presidency, Barack
Obama announced we would close the Guantanamo detainee facility within
one year.
It's a question that has kept occurring to me over the
last year and nine days, even though Obama and his administration have
proved unable to keep that promise.
Whom are we trying to
impress by ruling out enhanced interrogation techniques on unlawful
combatants, techniques that produced valuable intelligence that saved
American lives? Whom are we trying to impress by limiting
questioning to the Army Field Manual?
That's a good guide for
handling prisoners of war and other lawful combatants covered by
international law. But whom are we trying to impress by extending
those protections to those who are not covered by the Geneva Conventions
or other treaties we have signed?
Whom are we trying to impress
by trying Khalid Sheik Mohammed in civilian courts after he already pled
guilty to a military tribunal? And trying him in New York City,
where the trial will cost something like $1 billion and tie up Lower
Manhattan for years?
Would these people we are trying to impress
be that much less impressed if the administration belatedly follows the
advice of Mayor Bloomberg and Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein and
stages that trial on a military base or elsewhere outside of New York
City?
And whom are we trying to impress by treating the failed
Christmas bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab not as a military combatant
but as a common civilian criminal, even though he launched an attack on
America from outside the country? Whom are we trying to impress by
administering Miranda warnings and telling him that he has a right to a
lawyer and the right to remain silent?
If the answer to these
questions is that we are trying to impress Islamist terrorists, we've
clearly failed.
Without the ingenuity of America’s brightest minds and the
investment of U.S. Taxpayer dollars, there would be no Internet, as we
now know it today.
Now, the Obama administration has quietly
moved to cede control of the web from the United States to foreign
powers.
Some background: The Internet came into being
thanks to the genius work of American's, Dr.Robert E. Kahn and Dr.
Vinton G. Cerf. These men while employed by the Department of
Defense, in the DARPA office (Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency), in the early 1970’s, went to work conceiving, designing and
implementing the idea of "open-architecture networking." This
breakthrough in connectivity and networking was the birth of the
Internet.
These two gentlemen had the vision and the brainpower
to create a worldwide computer Internet communications network that
forever changed the world and how we communicate in it.
They
discovered that by providing a person with a unique identifier,
(TCP/IP), which was able to be recognized and interact through a network
of servers, all users then could communicate amongst themselves and with
others. The servers would recognize the identifier and connect
networks-to-networks, (utilizing a series of giant servers), that would
pass on information from computer to computer in a seamless real-time
exchange of information. This new process of communication became
know as the "information super highway," the Internet.
Now for
the bad news -- in an effort to show the World how inclusive, sharing,
cooperative and international America can be, the Obama administration
has set off on a plan to surrender control and key management of the
Internet by the U.S. Department of Commerce and their agents.
Political Vel Craft is reporting a businessman is asking for Obama
to document his eligibility.
Jason Hommel, a man who runs a
silver business and offers stock investment advice, has announced he’s
offering a reward of $100,000 for proof meeting that Barack Obama is a
"natural born" citizen of the United States and, therefore, eligible to
be president.
Hommel announced the offer on his website.
"I, Jason Hommel, promise that I will give $100,000 to the first person
who can prove to my satisfaction that Barack Obama, acting as president
of the United States, is a 'natural born' citizen of the USA, which is a
qualification to hold the office as indicated in the U.S. Constitution,"
he wrote.
"Please prove that Obama is a 'natural born' US
citizen, and put to rest the claims in lawsuits that include contentions
Obama was born in Kenya, wasn’t a 'natural born' citizen because of his
father’s Kenyan citizenship, was a dual citizen and that his mother
wasn’t old enough to transmit citizenship at birth. In addition, his
citizenship is clouded by his move as a child to Indonesia and apparent
adoption by an Indonesian citizen who married his mother."
Private investigator Neil Sankey, using Intelius, Lexis Nexis,
Choice Point and other public records, found around 25 Social Security
numbers connected with Barack Obama’s name.
However, it may not
be as many as 25, since Sankey also searched using closely related names
such as: "Barak Obama," "Batock Obama," "Barok Obama," and "Barrack
Obama." There may very well be some Kenyans living in America with
the same last name and a similar first name. In any case, I will
exclude these records for the purpose of this research and focus only on
names spelled exactly like his name.
Moreover, we can verify many
of the Social Security numbers as valid since they’re connected to
addresses at which we know Obama resided. Needless to say, there
are also a slew of address and social security numbers connected to
addresses in states that Obama has no known connection to.
In
Obama’s home state, Illinois, Sankey tracked down 16 different addresses
for a Barack Obama or a Barack H. Obama, of which all are addresses he
was known to have lived at. Two Social Security numbers appear for
these addresses, one beginning with 042, and one starting 364.
In
California, where Obama attended Occidental College, there are six
addresses listed for him, all within easy driving distance of the
college. However, there are three Social Security numbers
connected to these addresses, 537 and two others, each beginning with
999, which are
not valid SSNs.
There are no addresses listed in New York
where he attended Columbia University, but there is one listed for him
in nearby Jackson, NJ, with a Social Security number beginning with 485.
In Massachusetts -- where Obama attended Harvard Law School -- we
find three addresses, all using the 042 Social Security number.
After Obama was elected to the United States Senate in 2005, he moved
into an apartment at 300 Massachusetts Ave NW; the Social Security
number attached to that address is the 042 one. Yet, three years
later, Obama used a different Social Security number for an address
listed as: 713 Hart Senate Office Building. This was the address
of his United States Senate office. This Social Security number
began with 282 and was verified by the government in 2008.
This
mystery grows even stranger as other addresses and Social Security
numbers for Barack Obama appear in a dozen other states not known to be
connected to him. Again, I am excluding those records names not
spelled exactly like his name.
Tennessee, one address with a
Social Security number beginning with 427
Colorado, one address,
with a Social Security number beginning with 456.
Utah, two
addresses, with two Social Security numbers beginning with 901 and 799.
Missouri has one address and one Social Security number beginning
with 999.
Florida has two addresses listed for his him, three if
you count one listed as "Barry Obama." One is connected to a
Social Security number beginning with 762.
In Georgia there are
three addresses listed for him, all with different Social Security
numbers: 579, 420, and 423.
In Texas there are four different
addresses listed for him, one is connected to Social Security number
675.
There are two addresses listed for Barack Obama in Oregon
and one address listed for him in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan,
South Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
All told, there are 49
addresses and 16 different Social Security numbers listed for a person
whose name is spelled "Barack Obama." In some cases, the middle
initial "H" is listed. If you were to expand the search to include
closely related names such as: "Barac," "Barak," and "Barrack" Obama,
you would find more than a dozen additional addresses and Social
Security numbers.
Finally, the one Social Security number Obama
most frequently used, the one beginning with 042, is a number issued in
Connecticut sometime during 1976-1977, yet there is no record of Obama
ever living or working in Connecticut. Indeed, during this time
period Obama would have been 15-16 years old and living in Hawaii at the
time.

in the Barnett v. Obama case. Susan Daniels is a private
investigator, licensed by the State of Ohio.
In her affidavit, Daniels
states that she has located Barack Obama's Social Security Number.
She states it was issued between 1977 and 1979 in the State of
Connecticut. She states that it is the only Social Security Number
Barack Obama ever used.
The number assigned to Barack Obama "appears to be
associated with someone born in the year 1890."

Obama Big Hit As TV Broadcaster
Barack Obama, deluder in chief of the free world, gave notice that
if things don't work out in politics then he just might end up behind
the microphone doing basketball commentary.
The Los Angeles Times
reported that Obama spent several minutes today during the second
half of the Georgetown-Duke basketball game at the Verizon Center in
Washington with broadcast team Verne Lundquist and Clark Kellogg.
He provided insightful analysis as well as getting off a few jabs and
zingers, such as:
"After retirement, I'm coming after your job,
Clark. I'm just letting you know. So you either have three
more years or seven more years."
"I went to the Republican House
caucus just yesterday to prove that I could go to my right once in a
while."
Why wait -- I vote
right away -- why wait three more years -- basketball announcing seems
like something Obama would be good at -- two or three hours every day in
front of the camera and the microphone -- adoring fans -- telling tall
tales -- yeah! -- he'd like that.

Obama’s Lexicon Of Rhetorical Devices
Ben Shapiro says Obama’s friends call him the smartest man ever to
occupy the White House (a dubious claim in light of the fact that John
Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Quincy Adams, Abraham
Lincoln and Woodrow Wilson all had better intellectual credentials or
were far superior writers, or both).
According to his
supporters, his command of the English language is supposedly
unparalleled (when using a teleprompter, presumably).
There’s
only one problem: Obama is addicted to using language that he has
carefully tailored or perverted to obfuscate the truth. In other
words, he uses double talk on a routine basis.
In order to
understand what Obama truly tells us when he speaks to us, it is
necessary to grab our Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring and decipher
precisely what he means when he uses his pet phrases. This, then,
is a list of his favorite linguistic flourishes -- and just what he
means when he uses them:
"Hope and change": Socialism at
home, surrender abroad. Obama uses this talismanic formula when he
wants to activate his base, which responds to it like a jukebox when you
drop in a nickel.
"False choice": A very real choice Obama
wants to pretend doesn’t exist. He uses this when he puts on his
"pragmatic administrator" mask. Instead of facing up to the
reality that we sometimes have to choose between scientific advances and
morality, or between civil liberties and national security, or between
environmental regulations and economic development, Obama pretends he
can solve these conflicts through some sort of Hegelian synthesis only
he is wise enough to comprehend.
"Deficit reduction":
Deficit increases. Obama suggests that he will cut the rate at
which the deficit is growing -- something he has never actually achieved
-- and acts as though this is actual deficit reduction. It’s the
equivalent of a person spending $2,000 on his credit card, then
informing his credit card company that though he won’t pay off his debt,
he’ll only spend $1,500 next month.

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel contradicted Barack Obama’s
claim made just two days before that he had nothing to do with the much
maligned deal to get the vote of Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) for the
Senate’s healthcare bill just before Christmas.

News’ World News Tonight anchor Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview
on Monday, Obama denied being involved in what has come to be known as
the "Cornhusker Kickback"
SAWYER: A lot of people think you must say at
the end of the day, this is not who I was in 2008, these deals with
Nebraska, with Florida…
OBAMA: Let’s hold on a second, Diane.
I mean, I think that this gets into a big mush. So let’s just
clarify. I didn’t make a bunch of deals. There is a
legislative process that is taking place in Congress and I am happy
to own up to the fact that I have not changed Congress and how it
operates the way I would have liked. So that’s point number
one.
In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Katie
Couric on Wednesday, Emanuel flatly stated that he and the Obama
administration were heavily involved in the Cornhusker Kickback as well
as the other deals that provoked outrage from the public and helped
Republican Scott Brown win the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by the
late Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.
Couric: As you know, people were pretty
disgusted by deals that were made up on Capitol Hill like the one
given to Ben Nelson to win his support. If the White House was
so involved, was this done with your blessing? But…
Emanuel: Look, we were involved in the legislation all the way
through.
Couric: Were you involved in that?

So let’s just clarify. I didn’t make a
bunch of deals. There is a legislative process that is taking
place in Congress and I am happy to own up to the fact that I have
not changed Congress and how it operates the way I would have liked.
The mainstream media has thus far ignored Obama
being exposed as a liar by his own chief of staff. A few
conservative outlets have noted a Washington Post article from December
20, 2009 that reported the involvement of Emanuel and other White House
staff in the Senate negotiations. With Emanuel himself confirming
the Obama administration’s involvement with the Cornhusker Kickback,
Obama has some explaining to do. Well, he would if he were a
Republican president.
Many
believe that holding the Congressional negotiations on ObamaCare in the
White House, with members of the Executive branch involved, violated the
constitutional concept of separation of powers.

says there's been a remarkable amount of coverage of Barack Obama's
appearance at the House Republican retreat on Friday, but he hasn't seen
anyone focus on his rather stunning admission about the Democrats'
health care legislation (Video):
The last thing I will say, though -- let me
say this about health care and the health care debate, because I
think it also bears on a whole lot of other issues. If you
look at the package that we've presented -- and there's some stray
cats and dogs that got in there that we were eliminating, we were in
the process of eliminating. For example, we said from the
start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in
saying to people if you can have your -- if you want to keep the
health insurance you got, you can keep it, that you're not going to
have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision
making. And I think that some of the provisions that
got snuck in might have violated that pledge. [emphasis
added]
If we take this statement at face value, Obama is
admitting the the health care bills passed by either the House or Senate
(or both) contained provisions which were "snuck in" - presumably by
Democratic members and perhaps on behalf of certain lobbyists -- that
would have in fact prevented people from keeping their current insurance
and/or choosing the doctor they want.

And, In Hawaii, The DOH Lies
This information has been
copied whole from butterdezillion
blog -- there are a ton of links associated with this stuff at butterdezillion
blog -- "DOH" is the acronym for Hawaii's Department of Health.
People are asking how so many terrorist red flags could be
overlooked by so many. The same way these "birther" red flags were
not only overlooked but ridiculed:
1.1. DOH Director Fukino illegally hid
until Nov 2009 the DOH Administrative Rules showing that election
officials could have received a copy of Obama’s original birth
certificate without his permission. The DOH has said they can’t
release any records without Obama’s permission. But HRS 338-18(a)
allows state laws and DOH rules to govern the disclosure of vital
records, and the current rules -- Chapter 8b, 2.5(A)(1)(f) -- would
allow any election officer transacting the placement of Obama’s name on
the ballot to receive a certified copy.
1.2. The DOH has
falsely said that HRS 338-18 prohibits disclosure of government
processing records. There are
2 kinds of records -- records of the vital events themselves, and
records of the government’s handling of those records.
Certificates are the record of the
vital events. HRS 338-18(a) says that information about the actual
birth, death, marriage, and divorce events may only be released
according to the provisions set by law or Department of Health rules,
thus referring everyone to the DOH Administrative Rules to see how
information on actual certificates may be disclosed and to whom.
Far from barring "any disclosure" as claimed by the DOH, current
Administrative Rules allow a non-certified abbreviated copy of a birth
(Chapter 8b, 2.5B), marriage (Ch 8b, 2.8C), or death (Ch8b, 2.6C)
certificate to be released to anyone who asks for it. However, a
public statement of where someone was born -- such as Fukino’s July 27,
2009 statement about Obama -- is not allowed by the rules (Ch 8b, 2.1A).
All other records are public, except that neither direct viewing nor
certified copies are allowed unless the requestor has a direct and
tangible interest. Non-certified copies, abstracts, and disclosure
of information from the documents are not prohibited -- which, according
to Hawaii’s "Sunshine Law" (UIPA) means they must be disclosed upon
request, except for certain exemptions, such as for information having
privacy interest that outweighs the public interest in disclosure: date
of birth, gender, and address .
Since a damaging disclosure of
records processing was made in September (see #3), The DOH has been
denying access to these records by claiming that ANY DISCLOSURE is
forbidden.
1.3. Though ridiculing "birthers"
publicly, the DOH has PRIVATELY confirmed Obama’s online COLB’s as
forgeries -- a fact the DOH has known since the beginning. Because
processing information is subject to disclosure, the DOH was forced in
Sept 2009 to reveal that Obama’s birth certificate has been amended (OIP
interpretation) and that Obama or his representative has paid a fee to
have his certificate amended. Amendments must be noted on the
certificate (Ch 8b, 3.1), so the DOH has known this entire time that
both the Factcheck and
Fight the Smears COLB’s
are forgeries, since they have no amendment noted.
1.4.
Every government agency in Hawaii contacted thus far has explicitly
denied that they have a responsibility to report known forgery and/or
have refused to report suspected forgery to law enforcement. This
includes the Department Of Health, Office of Information Practices
(OIP), lieutenant governor’s office, and every member of Hawaii’s House
and Senate. Janice Okubo of the DOH seems to have stated that law
forbids her to disclose ANYTHING about a birth certificate -- even that
it’s a critical, very public forgery. The Ombudsman’s Office has
said they don’t investigate crimes and only report evidence they uncover
themselves. See no evil…
1.5. The amendment made to
Obama’s birth certificate renders it insufficient evidence for legal
purposes. Minor administrative errors (such as typos) don’t remove
the prima facie evidentiary value of a birth certificate, but such
no-fault errors don’t result in a fee (Ch 8b 3.5C, 3.11, 3.1, & HRS
338-17) and Obama was charged a fee. Legal name changes also don’t
affect the evidentiary value, but the lieutenant governor’s office has
confirmed that there has been no legal name change for anyone named
Obama, Dunham, Soetoro, or Sutoro.
1.6. Kapiolani Hospital
received a letter signed by Obama on White House stationery and with
raised seal claiming Obama was born there, even though that could only
be true if Obama’s amendment contradicted the doctor’s testimony.
If he had been born in a Hawaii hospital the hospital itself would have
been responsible for the content on the birth certificate and the DOH
responsible for any clerical typos. The only way Obama would be
charged for an amendment is:
a) if
he or his representative claimed to have filled out the certificate
themselves and erred, or
b) if
Obama claimed the doctor’s testimony was wrong.
1.7. The
DOH has broken Hawaii law to make rule changes (see July 11 addendum at
bottom) that would protect Obama. In mid-June of 2009 the DOH
stated that they will no longer issue long-form birth certificates (an
action reported in real time by
The Obama File). This is in direct violation of the current
rules, without following HRS 91-3 mandates for an open process for rule
changes -- the first of several such violations within the past year.
1.8. Fukino stated on July 27, 2009 that Obama’s records
verify his birth in Hawaii, but Hawaii law forbids her to conclude that,
since all the DOH has is legal hearsay. According to PHR Chapter
8b and HRS 338-17, only a judicial or administrative person or group can
evaluate the accuracy of the claims when an amended document is
presented as evidence. Obama has had many, many opportunities to
present his birth certificate as evidence in lawsuits. He has
refused -- even going so far as rescinding military orders rather than
risk a judge seeing his birth certificate. There is no process by
which Obama would present his records to Fukino as evidence.
1.9.
Having made the illegal statement, Fukino refused to obey UIPA which
required her to release the documents on which her statement was based.
1.10. The DOH has deleted documents required to be stored for
at least 2 years. The DOH says it no longer has the UIPA request
or invoices showing Obama’s birth certificate was amended. The
DOH’s own "Rules of Practice & Procedure" (11-1-30) say that documents
must be stored as long as the case can be contested -- August, 2011 in
this case.
1.11. Fukino averted discipline against herself
by promoting the OIP director, who was replaced by the attorney who has
designed the DOH’s deceptive responses. Six days after Leo
Donofrio’s blog said he would ask OIP Director Tsukiyama for
disciplinary action against Fukino and Okubo for their deception,
Tsukiyama resigned from the OIP to take a promotion to a company on
whose board of directors Fukino sits. He granted Cathy Takase’s
request to have control of all DOH matters and asked her to replace him.
Now OIP is leaving HRS 338-18 rulings up to the DOH. All DOH
responses contain deceptions #1 & 2, including disobeying their own
rules for non-certified abbreviated copies of birth, marriage, and death
certificates. They deny that documents exist which are required by
law, such as descriptions of their forms, procedures, and instructions
which are mandated in HRS 91, etc..
Red flags. This
information has been given to every lawmaker in Hawaii, the OIP, DOH,
Ombudsman’s office, HI lieutenant governor’ and governor’s offices,
Nebraska’s US attorney (who says they won’t take reports from citizens),
and Hawaii’s director of the Department of Public Safety, as well as to
multiple news organizations. The FBI thrice said they don’t
investigate document fraud. All refused to act. Red flags.
Michael P. Tremoglie is
reporting that the United States Commission on Civil Rights (CRC)
announced that it will hold a public hearing on February 12, 2010,
regarding the New Black Panther Party
voter intimidation case.
Its purpose is to collect information within the jurisdiction of the
Commission related particularly to the Department of Justice's actions
in the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) and enforcement of Section 11(b)
of the Voting Rights Act.
The CRC wants to know the reason the
Department of Justice (DOJ)
dismissed
voter intimidation charges in May against members of the New Black
Panther Party after they had already won a default judgment in the civil
suit filed in January.
One of the witnesses will be Chris Hill, a
Republican poll watcher. He told The Bulletin that one of the
Republican poll watchers felt intimidated. "He was inside the
building and he refused to stand outside with the two New Black
Panthers," he said.
There will be other witnesses who can testify
to the facts of the case. Also a video of the incident will be
shown.
One person’s testimony which has been sought is that of J.
Christian Adams the career Civil Rights Division prosecutor who compiled
the voter intimidation case against the NBPP will testify. It is
not known if Mr. Adams will testify. Allegations have been made
that there were political motivations in dismissing the case. It
is felt Mr. Adams could verify or disprove this.
The DOJ has
taken the unusual step of instructing its people not comply with
subpoenas issued by the Commission. A memo by DOJ to CRC General
Counsel David Blackwood said it objects to the questions asked.
The DOJ has repeatedly refused to provide information requested about
this case not only by the CRC, but by Congressman Frank Wolf ( R-Va.),
as well as, Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Tx.). Mr. Wolf sent a
letter January 26 to Glenn Fine the DOJ Inspector General.
He
said, "I have been disappointed by your reluctance to investigate the
unfounded dismissal of an important voter intimidation case, U.S. v. New
Black Panther Party. As you may recall, this case was inexplicably
dismissed last year -- over the ardent objections of the career
attorneys overseeing the case as well as the division’s own appeal
office. Despite repeated requests for information by members of
Congress, the press, and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, the DOJ
continues to stonewall all efforts to obtain information regarding the
case’s abrupt dismissal. This obstruction should be of great
concern to you and merit an immediate investigation."
Mr. Wolf
will appear at the hearing, which will be held at 624 9th St., N.W. Room
540, Washington, DC 20425. It is open to the public and the media.

Obama Yields
Last night, Obama ordered the Attorney General to consider other
places to try the 9/11 terror suspects after a wave of opposition to
holding the trial in lower Manhattan.
The dramatic turnabout came
hours after Mayor Bloomberg said he would "prefer that they did it
elsewhere" and then spoke to Attorney General Eric Holder.
"It
would be an inconvenience at the least, and probably that's too mild a
word for people that live in the neighborhood and businesses in the
neighborhood," Bloomberg told reporters. "There are places that
would be less expensive for the taxpayers and less disruptive for New
York City."
State and city leaders have increasingly railed
against a plan to try Khalid Shaikh Mohammed in Manhattan federal court
since Holder proposed it last month.
The order to consider new
venues does not change the White House's position that Mohammed should
be tried in civilian court.
"President Obama is still committed
to trying Mohammed and four other terrorist detainees in federal court,"
spokesman Bill Burton said Thursday.
Half a loaf
is better than none -- add this to the growing list of Obama
defeats.

Has Obama Become Bored?

asks, isn't this is about the time Barack Obama becomes bored with
his job?
He's in his second year as president, and he's
discovered that even with all the powers of office, he can't do
everything he wants to do, like remake America. Doing stuff is
hard. In the past, prosaic work has held little appeal for Obama,
and it's prompted him to think about moving on.
Begin with his
first serious job, as a community organizer in Chicago. Obama got
a little done, but quickly became frustrated with small achievements.
"He didn't see organizing making any significant changes in things,"
Jerry Kellman, the organizer who hired him, told me in 2008.
What
Obama wanted was political power, and that is what sent him to Harvard
Law School. "He was constantly thinking about his path to
significance and power," another organizer, Mike Kruglik, told me.
"He said, 'I need to go there [Harvard] to find out more about power.
How do powerful people think? What kind of networks do they have?
How do they connect to each other?'"
Out of law school, Obama did
some civil rights work in Chicago before running successfully for the
Illinois Senate in 1996. Almost immediately, Obama began "chafing
... at the limitations of legislating in Springfield," in the words of a
Washington Post profile. Easily bored, and with a growing sense of
dissatisfaction, he set his eyes on the House of Representatives,
unsuccessfully challenging Rep. Bobby Rush in 2000. In 2002 he
began his campaign for the U.S. Senate.
He won in 2004, but the
Senate proved unsatisfying, too. By mid-2006, Majority Leader
Harry Reid "sensed his frustration and impatience, had heard rumblings
that Obama was already angling to head back home and take a shot at the
Illinois governorship," write Mark Halperin and John Heilemann in the
new book Game Change. Reid knew "Obama simply wasn't cut out to be
a Senate lifer."
According to the book, the majority leader
invited Obama to his office for a talk. "You're not going to go
anyplace here," Reid told Obama. "I know that you don't like it,
doing what you're doing." Reid suggested Obama run for president.
Obama had been a senator for all of 18 months at the time. Soon
after, he was off and running.
What drove Obama was not just
ambition, although he is certainly ambitious. As he became
frustrated in each job, Obama concluded that the problem was not having
the power to do the things he wanted to do. So he sought a more
powerful position.
Today he is sitting in the most powerful chair
in the world. Yet he has spent a year struggling, and failing, to
enact far-reaching makeovers of the American economy. So now, even
in the Oval Office, there are signs that the old dissatisfaction is
creeping back in.
At a Jan. 17 Martin Luther King Day event at
Washington's Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, Obama brought up the fact
that many people see him as almost preternaturally calm. "I have a
confession to make," Obama said. "There are times I'm not so calm
... when progress seems too slow ... when it feels like all these
efforts are for naught, and change is so painfully slow in coming, and I
have to confront my own doubts."
Obama said it to be
inspirational, but the fact is, in the past, that's when he looked for a
new job.
A few days later, ABC's Diane Sawyer asked whether Obama
would sometimes "sit and confront your own doubts."
"Yes," Obama
said.
"Ever in the middle of all that's coming did you think
maybe one term is enough?" Sawyer asked.
Obama answered
haltingly. "You know, I -- I would say that when I -- the one
thing I'm clear about is that I'd rather be a really good one-term
president than a mediocre two-term president."
Many observers
have remarked that, even when dealing with the most momentous issues
facing the country, Obama has seemed oddly removed from the hands-on
work of making policy. Maybe they're noticing the same thing Harry
Reid did. Obama's dissatisfaction is shining through; perhaps he's
not really cut out for -- or up to -- the job.
In the State of
the Union address, Obama declared, "I don't quit." And of course,
there's no danger he would just up and quit the Oval Office. But
throughout his life, his reaction to frustration has been to look for a
bigger job. What does he do now?

Obama Likely To Rebrand Climate Bill
CQ Politics
says that despite the obituaries being written for Senate passage of
a cap-and-trade bill this year, Obama is expected to reiterate his call
for comprehensive clean energy and climate change legislation and to
rebrand it as part of his job-creation agenda.
White House
officials and senators leading efforts to write a bipartisan climate
bill signaled Wednesday that they will keep pushing hard for legislation
that would curb emissions of greenhouse gases and boost development of
alternative energy.
At a clean energy forum Wednesday, White
House energy and climate adviser Carole Browner previewed the energy and
environment slice of Obama’s State of the Union address. Stressing
the need for legislation to eliminate dependence on foreign oil, put a
price signal on carbon emissions and mandate an increase in electricity
from renewable sources, Browner stuck to the "jobs" script and never
used the phrase "cap and trade."
"This is about creating a new
generation of clean energy jobs that will position us in a global
market, and we need the legislation to do that," she said.
Experts expect Obama to avoid the cap-and-trade label -- which many
lawmakers see as a confusing turn-off to voters -- instead, framing the
plan with the rhetoric of jobs creation.
Meanwhile, White House
officials said the boost in spending on alternative energy research,
which Obama began last year in the stimulus and has consistently listed
as a top priority, will emerge relatively unscathed from Obama’s
proposed spending freeze.
"We’re still working on making
investments in clean energy," Rob Nabors, deputy director of the White
House’s Office of Management and Budget, told reporters in a conference
call. "Not everything in the budget is of equal importance to the
country -- or to the president’s agenda. Those things that are the
most important to the president, the things like education, things like
energy research -- they’re at the top of the list. There are other
things that aren’t at the top of the list, and we felt that those areas
could be most effectively reduced."

A Crude Forgery
In, "How a Crude Forgery Was Passed Off as Authentic to get an
Unknown Elected President of the USA," John Charlton revisits the fact
that most know that there are doubts about Obama’s Birth Certificate or
eligibility to be President of the United States, but says few are aware
of how his supporters passed off an obvious forgery of a Hawaiian
Certification of Live Birth and used cleverly crafted quotes of apparent
authorities to establish its authenticity for the purpose of committing
election fraud upon the entire nation.
The notion that it is a
forgery continues to be squashed by the Main Stream Media.
Consider the transcript from Chris Matthews’s "Hardball" program from
last night during his interview of J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ), who is
challenging John McCain for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona (note that
Matthews is attempting to belittle McCain’s opponent):
Matthews: "Are you as far right as the
birthers?" Are you one of those who believes that the
president should have to prove that he’s a citizen of the United
States and not an illegal immigrant? Are you that far right?"
Hayworth: "Well, gosh, we all had to bring our birth
certificates to show we were who we said we were and we were the age
we said we were to play football in youth sports," Hayworth
responded matter-of-factly. "Shouldn’t we know exactly that
anyone who wants to run for public office is a natural born citizen
of the United States and is who they say they are?"
Matthews:
[referring back to some of Hayworth’s past statements] "I’m
reading your letter that says the president should go back and get
his birth certificate from the governor of Hawaii -- "I’m just
asking, do you stand by this letter?"
Hayworth: "Yeah,
sure."
Matthews: "Should the governor of Hawaii produce
evidence that the president is one of us, an American? Do you
think that’s a worthy pastime for the governor of Hawaii right now?"
Hayworth: "No, I -- look: I’m just saying the president
should come forward with the information, that’s all. Why
should we depend on the governor of Hawaii?"
That Matthews should ridicule such a common-sense
request is absurd on its face; but his approach is Alinksyesque.
However, what the Main Stream Media doesn’t want you to remember, or
recognize, is that the highly flaunted electronic image of the COLB
which the Obama campaign puts forth to defend his claims to be eligible
for office was recognized as a forgery from the beginning.
Day One: In a small apartment house just south of the Ventura
Freeway and north of Yosemite Drive near the campus of Occidental
College on a street named Destiny Lane, the owner is cleaning out the
attic of his small apartment house in preparation for its sale. He
is planning to hold a large yard sell the next day. In a corner of
the attic he finds a small shoe box filled will various old papers
letters and photos. He glances at them only briefly before setting
the box aside with the other items slated for the yard sell.
Day
Two: Early that day Mr. I. Foundit, a name that will echo
throughout history strolls across the lawn at the house on Destiny Lane
and looks at the many items filling the lawn. Mysteriously he is
drawn toward the small shoe box marked one dollar. He picks it up
and looks carefully at its contents. His face turns white and his
hands began to tremble as he shuffles through the items in the box.
Composing himself he quickly walks over to the man in charge, pays the
one dollar and returns to his car.
Returning home, Foundit, a
staunch conservative enters his house locking the door behind him,
quickly drawing the blinds and sits himself at the kitchen table as he
spreads the contents of the small shoe box on the table. He
realizes he has a treasure trove. This simple man suddenly is
holding the fate of the nation, and most certainly the fate of Obama in
his hands. For in the tiny shoe box he finds not only youthful
pictures of Barack Obama, but documents relating to his admission to
Occidental College. Documents in which Barry, now Barack claimed
to be a non-citizen, a foreign born student seeking to enroll under that
colleges special program for foreigners. He also finds a copy of a
Kenyan birth certificate.
Mr. Foundit's first impulse is to pick
up the phone and call the newspapers and then the TV networks -- then
he's suddenly faced with the reality, the truth -- these guys would
never believe him! What to do? What to do? He paces
back and forth almost becoming a nervous wreck. He decides to
sleep on it -- if that would be possible.
Day Three: After
a sleepless night Foundit springs to his feet -- he has made a decision!
He often visits various conservative blogs so the solution is simple, he
will send off copies of his great find to some of the best conservative
blogs in the blogosphere. He carefully makes out his list then
begins contacting and emailing the documents around the net.
Day
Four: The Internet explodes. Blogs coast to coast have
picked up the story, first a dozen or so and then hundreds and by days
end thousands of blogs are posting the story. But none mention
Foundit -- this was his wish.
Day Five: The blogosphere is
ablaze with these new revelations, but strangely the MSM and even FOX
News remain silent afraid to be associated with the "Birthers."
The roar on the Internet continues for day after day and grows even more
intense.
Day Ten: Finally on day 10 -- FOX News airs the
story for the first time, after confirming the validity of the
documents. The nation is stunned! The White House is silent.
Day Eleven: FOX News interrupts with a breaking story: sources
inside the Selective Service System have provided FOX with a letter
dated June 2 1980, stating that he, Barack Hussein Obama II, was not a
citizen and therefore not required to register with them. This was
in reply to an earlier letter sent to him by the SSS.
Day Twelve:
Finally the MSM are forced to carry the story. Eyes across the
nation are now looking to the White House, where all daily briefings
have been cancelled -- the voice of Obama, Robert Gibbs is silent!
Day Thirteen: Rumors are flying that Obama has resigned and
that Joe Biden has already been sworn in as the 45th President of the
United States. Observers near the White House report seeing Marine
One leave and head in the direction of Andrews Air Force Base.
Day Fourteen: Somewhere at his undisclosed location, believed to
be on a small Caribbean Island, Foundit, "pops a top" on a cold one, as
he looks at the small Shoe Box.
This is of course a
work of
fiction by Ron Russell , but perhaps exposing truths hidden just
below the surface.

Obama Refers To Himself 114 Times
Examiner.com
says that any speech from Obama is guaranteed to include numerous
references to himself, blaming George Bush, and creating straw men.
Wednesday night's State of the Union was no different.
Here is
the numbers breakdown of Obama's first State of the Union:
114 --
The staggering number of times Obama referred to himself. He said "I" 96
times, and used "my" or "me" 18 times. For example: "When I ran
for president, I promised I wouldn't just do what was popular, I would
do what was necessary." Barack Obama's favorite person is still
Barack Obama.
86 -- The number of times Obama was interrupted by
applause, almost always by his fellow Democrats.
70 -- The number
of minutes the speech took.
13 -- Stories of people that may or
may not exist, in an attempt to personalize his speech. -- Examples:
"The window manufacturer in Philadelphia", "the struggling small
business owner who wrote to me", and "the eight year old boy in
Louisiana."
10 -- Times Obama blamed his own failures on George
W. Bush. Instead of owning up to his own failures, Obama must
constantly try to remind people that the problems were there before he
got into office. Example: "That's what we did for eight years."
4 -- Attacks on Wall Street or bankers, the nouveau-bourgeoisie.
There is always a bogeyman that the Obamunists must blame for the
country's woes. Along with George Bush, the current evil entity is
Wall Street.
4 -- Arguments with straw men. Obama loves to
debate with people who do not have a forum. He is able to get his
point across and we are not allowed to hear from the other side.
Examples: "Those that disagree" and "some on the right."

willingness toward more opening America's vast, untapped oil resources.
"It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for
oil and gas development." Unfortunately, this was the only example
of Obama "moving to the center." Despite the Brown-out in
Massachusetts, Obama has not learned the lesson that America rejects his
leftist policies.
0 -- New ideas. It was the same old
agenda from Obama. He wants health care reform, another stimulus,
cap and trade. He remains tone deaf to the U.S. electorate.
0 -- Changes in ObamaCare. He repeatedly praised the plan and
said it must be passed. The main fault he found in it was that he
"didn't explain it more clearly." Obama said he would listen to
new ideas, but the ideas of tort reform and allowing insurance purchases
across state lines are not new. He refused to listen to them
before.
0 -- Lessons learned from the failure of Porkulus.
Yesterday, we found out the $787 billion dollar plan actually cost $862
billion. It failed miserably on its promise to keep unemployment
below 8 percent. Now, Obama wants a new "jobs plan".

Justice Alito Mouths "Not True"
POLITICO's Kasie Hunt, who's in the House
chamber,
reports that Justice Samuel Alito mouthed the words "not true" when
Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court's campaign finance decision.
"Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the
floodgates for special interests -- including foreign corporations -- to
spend without limit in our elections," Obama said. "Well I don’t think
American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful
interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the
American people, and that’s why I’m urging Democrats and Republicans to
pass a bill that helps to right this wrong."
The shot of the
black-robed Supreme Court justices, stone-faced, was priceless.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stood up behind the justices and clapped
vigorously while Alito shook his head and quietly mouthed his
discontent. Schumer and Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) are trying to find
a way to legislate around the Supreme Court decision.
One
conservative legal expert took sides with Alito -- at least on the
substance of Obama's comments.
"The President’s swipe at the
Supreme Court was a breach of decorum, and represents the worst of
Washington politics -- scapegoating 'special interest' bogeymen for all
that ails Washington in attempt to silence the diverse range of speakers
in our democracy," said Bradley A. Smith, chairman of the Center for
Competitive Politics.
Alito can also be clearly seen shaking his head in the negative. His body
language is screaming, NO! Not true!
NRO reports that Bradley A. Smith, the Josiah H.
Blackmore II/Shirley M. Nault Designated Professor of Law at Capital
University Law School,
says Obama’s statement is false.
The Court held that 2 U.S.C.
Section 441a, which prohibits all corporate political spending, is
unconstitutional. Foreign nationals, specifically defined to
include foreign corporations, are prohibiting from making "a
contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an
express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in
connection with a Federal, State or local election" under 2 U.S.C.
Section 441e, which was not at issue in the case.
Foreign
corporations are also prohibited, under 2 U.S.C. 441e, from making any
contribution or donation to any committee of any political party, and
they prohibited from making any "expenditure, independent expenditure,
or disbursement for an electioneering communication... ."
This
is either blithering ignorance of the law, or demagoguery of the worst
kind.

Obama Takes Credit For Success In Iraq
Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop
organization
took
offense last night as Barack Obama tried to take credit for the
success of the Iraq War when he was a bitter opponent of the successful
troop surge implemented by President George W. Bush. Obama
proclaimed "I promised I would end this war, and that is what I am doing
as President."
Shawn Callahan, Executive Director of Move
America Forward, said "Without the surge America would have left Iraq
with the war lost to the insurgents. If Obama had been in charge
of the Iraq war, it would have been lost along with the needless loss of
potentially thousands of innocent Iraqis who would have been at the
mercy of the terrorists and criminals. Americans would be further
at risk with a more emboldened terrorist network."
"It is
reprehensible for the President to take credit for a war his predecessor
won. Then-Senator Obama criticized the Iraq war, called it a dumb
war, said our troops would fail and that the surge would make things
worse. History has proved him wrong, and yet he still tries to
somehow take credit for our troops’ success without even congratulating
them on the good job they have done."
His speech offered only a
few minutes to the subject of national security after speaking at length
about a multitude of other issues that Obama felt were more important
despite the fact that the country is at war. Obama also failed to
address security in several other ways:
•The President failed to recognize America’s
"war on terror." His Administration continues to treat
terrorism as a police action despite the threat against America by a
group of extremists who have declared war on us.
•The President makes no mention of
Guantanamo Bay, nor does he acknowledge that his own Administration
has found terrorists held there who should be detained indefinitely.
•The President talked tough about nuclear
disarmament with respect to North Korea and mentioned Iran, but his
pandering around the world has brought no success in stopping their
nuclear ambitions.
•Obama refused to address complaints that
the Christmas bomber is being treated as a criminal defendant with
full constitutional rights instead of an enemy combatant who should
be in the hands of the U.S. military and intelligence agencies.

We Have Bigger Problems Than "Don’t Ask Don’t Tell"
What was Barack Obama’s
call to scrap
the "Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell" rule barring homosexuals from military
service doing in the middle of the speech? Why is Obama addressing
this difficult, both politically and legally, issue now? We have
bigger problems than normalizing homosexuality.
Obama, an
advocate for the homosexual agenda, announced his desire to allow
homosexuals to serve openly in the military during his first State of
the Union address Wednesday night, saying, "This year, I will work with
Congress and our military to finally repeal the law that denies gay
Americans the right to serve the country they love because of who they
are," Obama said.
The Clinton-era rule, which skirted the
outright ban on homosexuals serving in the military, would likely take
an act of Congress to change, said Elaine Donnelly, president of the
Center for Military Readiness, and "voters are concerned about national
security, and they don’t want America’s military to be used for any
purpose other than national defense."

Obama has been struggling to recast himself as an adversary of the
banks.

and already like.
1. Maintain and expand the Veterans Medical
and Hospitals Systems;
2 Expand the Federally Qualified
Community Health Centers;
3. Drop the Medicare age to 55 to
64 ---- Republicans will not mess with that;
4. Elevate
Medicaid to 150% of the Federal Poverty Level;
5. Open the
Federal Employees Health Benefits Program for non federal employees
to join;
6 Eliminate Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusions
By doing these actions; you are dealing with winners and known
programs. Each of these programs is supported by those in
them.
By dumping the Health Exchanges you eliminate the
number one grist for the Republican mills, i.e., forcing people to
buy insurance. And, to win working people back, voters they
are; Dump the taxing of benefits.
These should be done
immediately....no waiting time.
Then in a year or two we do
another step.
These can and will lead to larger reforms such
as a federally administered Single Payer system; and, toward our
ultimate goal of a National Health Service in our country.

J.D. Hayworth A Birther?
J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ), McCain's senate challenger, seemed to call for
Obama's birth certificate, when Chris Matthews asked Hayworth whether
he's "as far right as the Birthers,"
the former Republican Congressman called on Obama to produce his birth
certificate for public inspection (video).
"Well, gosh, we all had to bring our birth certificates to show we
were who we said we were, and we were the age we said we were, to play
football in youth sports," said Hayworth, who is currently challenging
John McCain (R-AZ) in Arizona's Senate primary. "Shouldn't we know
exactly that anyone who wants to run for public office is a natural born
citizen of the United States, and is who they say they are?"
Later in the segment, which aired Tuesday night on MSNBC's Hardball,
Hayworth said the responsibility for producing evidence should fall
directly on Obama.
"I'm just saying the president should come
forward with the information, that's all. Why must we depend on
the governor of Hawaii?"

Obama Boasts Biggest Deficits Since World War II
CNSNews.com is
reporting that Obama’s first two years in office will boast
the two biggest annual federal budget deficits since World War II, when
measured as a share of GDP, says the Congressional Budget Office.
"Last year’s deficit was the largest as a share of GDP since the end
of World War II, and the deficit expected for 2010 would be the second
largest," said CBO.
"The Congressional Budget Office (CBO)
projects that if current laws and policies remained unchanged, the
federal budget would show a deficit of $1.35 trillion for fiscal year
2010," said CBO. "At 9.2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP),
that deficit would be slightly smaller than the shortfall of 9.9 percent
of GDP posted in 2009."
"Last year’s deficit was the largest as a
share of GDP since the end of World War II, and the deficit expected for
2010 would be the second largest," said CBO.
The estimates were
included in the CBO report, "The Budget and Economic Outlook: Fiscal
Years 2010 to 2020," which was released today.
The federal
deficit in 2009 was also the largest ever in sheer dollar amount.
"The budget deficit surged to $1.4 trillion in 2009, the largest
shortfall on record in dollar terms and nearly $1 trillion greater than
the deficit recorded the previous year," said CBO.
The CBO’s new
estimate also indicates that if current federal tax and spending laws
are maintained, the U.S. Treasury will need to borrow an additional $6
trillion between 2011 and 2020 to cover expected federal spending.
"Under current law, the federal fiscal outlook beyond this year is
daunting," said the CBO report. "Projected deficits average about
$600 billion per year over the 2011–2020 period."
This estimate
that the government will borrow an additional $6 trillion from 2011-2020
is based on the assumption that the tax cuts enacted under President
Bush in 2001 and 2003 will be allowed to expire, thus raising income tax
rates and that Congress will not enact temporary fixes -- as it has in
the past -- to stop the Alternative Minimum Tax from hitting the incomes
of middle-class Americans.
OK, who's surprised?

Obama Earns An "F"' On Stopping WMD Attacks
David A. Patten is
reporting that the national weapons of mass destruction (WMD)
commission established by Congress has given the Obama administration an
"F" for failing to protect America from nuclear, chemical, and
biological attacks.
"Nearly a decade after 9/11, one year after
our original report, and one month after the Christmas Day bombing
attempt, the United States is failing to address several urgent threats,
especially bioterrorism," stated former Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla.,
chairman of the bipartisan Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of
Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism.
The report charges
the administration "is simply not paying consistent and urgent attention
to the means of responding quickly and effectively so that [WMD attacks]
no longer constitute a threat of mass destruction."
Surprisingly,
the Commission concluded there still exists "no national plan to
coordinate federal, state, and local efforts following a bioterror
attack, and the United States lacks the technical and operational
capabilities required for an adequate response."
An outgrowth of
the 9/11 Commission report, the WMD Commission is charged with
evaluating U.S. defenses against WMD attacks. The report issued
Tuesday examines 17 areas deemed vital to defending against WMD.
The Commission gave the administration an F for not improving the
nation's ability to respond rapidly to a biological attack inflicting
mass casualties, and an F for poor implementation of the education and
training programs needed to train national-security experts.
It
also awarded Congress an F for poor oversight.

Wake Up And Smell The War
The New York Daily News believes the evidence is mounting that Obama
is following not merely an erroneous anti-terrorism strategy, but one
that is increasingly incoherent and incompetent. Two recent
developments highlight his failure:
First, senior administration
intelligence and homeland security officials testified to Congress that
they were not aware in advance that the Christmas Day terrorist, Umar
Farouk Abdulmutallab, would be read Miranda rights, arrested and charged
with crimes. Stunningly, it appears that these decisions were
essentially made wholly inside the Justice Department.
Second,
the administration has conceded that some 50 terrorists held at
Guantanamo Bay could neither be safely released nor tried and would
therefore be held indefinitely. This flatly contradicts repeated
Obama promises to close Gitmo. It also undercuts the rationale for
Obama's planned civilian trials for other terrorists and previous
decisions -- including some by the Bush administration -- to release far
too many who simply reverted to terrorism.
Obama has strained
mightily to move away from former President George W. Bush's "global war
on terror," changing many of its underlying policies and even sidelining
the phrase "war on terror." That Obama has not fully succeeded in
reversing Bush's policies is not for lack of trying, but only because
global realities have made it impossible for even someone so determined
to succeed in just one year.
However, make no mistake: Obama has
not given up. He remains determined to revolutionize America's
conceptual basis for dealing with terrorism. His approach is a
throwback to the pre-9/11 paradigm of treating terrorism as a problem to
be handled through conventional law enforcement channels. That
means full constitutional rights, including Fourth and Fifth Amendment
protections and evidence restrictions, public jury trials and more.
